About this listen
Detectives never found the knife used to murder Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. They thought it was in a small backpack dumped at LAX the night of the murders. They assumed it disappeared in an LA County landfill.
OJ's Knife tells a different tale. Two airport workers found the backpack in the trash. Unaware the murder weapon was inside, they planned to return the “lost” backpack to OJ. When OJ was arrested the next day, LAX workers Gordon Grove and his friend Luther Malcolm realized they had the murder weapon. So what now?
Enter a cast of characters determined to secure the key piece of evidence—a South Central LA drug dealer desperate to escape an indictment, an Armenian crime boss intending to sell the knife to the highest bidder, and a TV reporter chasing the knife to save his job.
They all want to get their hands on OJ’s knife!

OJ’s Nightmare!
John Gibson tells an amazingly creative story to answer one of the greatest mysteries in the OJ Simpson murder case. Gibson lived the case as a national news reporter and makes his version come alive with twists and turns only someone so close to the case could come up with. Now that OJ is no longer here to reveal what really happened, Gibson’s version is not as fantastical as it might seem. As we approach the 30th anniversary of the murders, this book takes us on a chase to rival that of the white Bronco all those years ago!

Gibson nailed this one, the story and narration kept me on the edge of my (driver's) seat.
Great story, interesting characters and character development, really enjoyed listening, looking forward to Death in the Reeds.

It’s like a trip back in time
WOW! That was a fun ride This book does a great job transporting you back to the 1990’s! It gets a lot of the details right and you are along for a pre-social media era where the 24 hour news cycle wasn’t quite a thing. Written by someone who has extensive experience in newsrooms of the time and into the 21st century John Gibson does a wonderful job of making that world come alive.
The story itself is exceptional. I mean we know how it went down. But this ‘what if.’ scenario is a thrilling alternative to an otherwise oft repeated story. What I really enjoyed was the old gum shoe noir aspect of the writing. It had the feel of a story like Double Endemnity or films of that era. The story had more twists than the actual game of twister and it kept you guessing until the end. This was such a delightful read and now whenever the real life story is mentioned I will think about Mikey Judge (who actually reminds me of the author from his news coverage days !)
The only criticism I have is the editing of the audio book. The break between chapters is really long (in audiobook time scale). Several times I had to check to see if I had stopped the book. It’s a small thing but it was a thing.

The knife was right there
If you’re looking for a fun read based on a little bit of fact and like characters that seem like real people at times by an author that creates situations like the Carl Hiaasen this is the audiobook for you. Gibson’s personal knowledge of California cities, and the trial of O.J. Simpson shows throughout the story of whatever ever happened to the knife, they never found. His characters are based on the people that we see every day just normal folks trying to do the right thing but alas, everything gets screwed up somehow. You will enjoy listening to John Gibson narrating his own book.

A new twist on a 30 year old story
A question asked by many followers of the OJ trial was what happened to the knife. John Gibson adds a new and exciting twist to a 30 year old murder. A fast paced tale that has one reporter trying to find the answer to the crucial missing evidence.

Worth the wait.
I’ve been waiting for the audio version of this book to come out so I could hear John Gibson tell the story himself. I’ve always found Gibson’s storytelling highly entertaining, whether he was talking truth or fiction. O.J.’s Knife is a clever hybrid of the two told by someone who knows, intimately, the TV news business, Los Angeles locales and certainly the O.J. trial.
Gritty characters, clever story and great read.
