About this listen
Was there a human civilization in Antarctica in the past? Will we ever know?
In November 2002, a special US Navy SEAL team is sent to Antarctica to locate and rescue a film crew that has become lost. No trace of them is found, except for film footage of strange artifacts buried under the ice. Everyone who saw the film is warned to never talk about what they have seen - ever again.
More than a decade later in Boulder, Colorado, Professor Charles Summers is intrigued by the discovery of a 16th century map showing the coastline of Antarctica so accurately, that when NASA investigates the maps, they find that they must update their own current maps! But this map predates any record of the discovery of Antarctica by 300 years!
Who drew those maps and when?
Did they see Antarctica without its icecap?
Did humans live on Antarctica before?
But, Antarctica has been under its icecap for 200 million years!
Is it possible that beneath the ice we will find the remains of an impossibly ancient civilization? The Rossler Foundation arranges an expedition to Antarctica to search for evidence of such a civilization. The Orion Society immediately mobilizes their resources to infiltrate the expedition. Will their treachery and hunger for power stop this expedition from reaching its goals?
Is there an ancient city under the ice of Antarctica?
Ninth Cycle Antarctica is the second book in the Rossler Foundation Series, it is a full-length audiobook, a stimulating thriller about an attempt at uncovering true human history in the face of adversity. This adventure takes listeners back into the mysteries of the Rossler Foundation, which began with JC Ryan's best-selling audiobook The Tenth Cycle.

Story
March 11, 2004. The Madrid train bombings kill 193 innocent civilians. What the terrorists didn’t know was on that fateful day they also succeeded in creating their worst nightmare. No one knew who he was, what he looked like, where he came from, nor who he worked for. He was a sniper who could take a target out from 800 yards to a mile. He could kill with a long gun, short gun, or no gun. He was lethal with edged weapons, explosives, poisons, or no weapon at all. Targets could be executed from afar or die with his breath in their faces.

Story
After more than 20 years in special operations, USMC Gunnery Sergeant Wolf Mathison wasn’t looking forward to retirement when—implanted with an experimental artificial intelligence—he deployed on his last mission with a platoon of Marine Raiders being sent to the Jovian moon Europa. The USS Jefferson was destroyed en route, though, and only Mathison and three other marines survived. Trapped in stasis, they were hurled into the outer reaches of the solar system, where they wouldn’t be found for hundreds of years.

On a desolate beach in far northern Scotland, the winter storms have been washing up all manner of things since time began. But buried in the centre of one smaller iceberg is a shard of ancient Viking pottery telling a partial tale of a hidden mysterious island beyond the ice and mist, that was home to a great treasure and even greater horrors. Thawing in the same block of ice was a rotting flap of skin that refused to be identified but had similar skin patterns to a creature not seen for 100 million years.

A very interesting idea
I haven't read book one of this series but it is clear that this book has major spoilers for book one so I recommend reading them in order. This could be read as a stand alone if you want to.
I found the idea behind the book fascinating, the idea that humans had evolved on 10 previous occasions only to suffer a cataclysm that devolved them each time was interesting and unique.
I found the characters complex and realistic which made them easy to connect with. I found myself desperately wanting them to succeed.
I'm definitely interested in reading more of this series.
The narration was mostly excellent, occasionally I noticed something was spoken in the wrong character voice but the voices were well done and the delivery was enjoyable. It does need to be better edited there are a few dozen mistakes that are still in there.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Ninth Cycle
This is the second book in the series and I felt lost not having listened to the first book. The beginning of the book was too long it and became boring. The story picked up toward the end.
The narration could have used some good editing. Phrases were repeated and odd noises were heard throughout the performance. The accents of the narrator were not believable. The prose was stilted at times.

Good story, narrator ehh.
I received this book free thru Audiobooks for an unbiased review.
I thought the story was good, but there was way too much time wasted on the minutia, not enough on the main story.
The character were well defined, and the main story was interesting although the delivery and editing of this audio version was lacking. The narrator seemed as if he was reading the book for the first time and his accents were less than desireable.
All in all it wasn’t the worst I’ve listened to, and I believe if there was a little more time spent on the discoveries and a little prep from the narrator this could be a good series.

2nd in a series to span and rewrite the ages
I haven't read the first series and while I suffered on missing some of the character backstory the story itself was more than able enough to be understood and read on its own though full appreciation would require the first story. Get ready to have history rewritten. Science of evolution meets its demise only to be rewritten in a fantastic new way. Get ready to get hooked into a new series. Unstoppable once the momentum starts
The Rossler Foundation sends an exploration party to Antarctica to uncover clues about the possibility of an ancient civilization under tons of ice. You know right away that they are in store for more than just the danger of the harsh conditions of Mother Nature, though.
Ninth Cycle Antarctica was a roller coaster of a thriller once it got started. The narrator was great, but there were some mistakes that he made, and the recording was not listened to carefully before editing. Overall, it was a great story and solid narration, though, and I'd still listen to it again. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Fast Paced Thrills
Was there a lost civilization living on Antarctica centuries past?
A missing firm crew, an ancient map of surprising accuracy, and the frozen ice of Antarctica brings high tension and excitement to book two in the Rossler Foundation series. Once started I did not want to stop listening. So I didn’t!
It’s an excellent thriller with the mystery surrounding a lost civilization. Suspense readers will enjoy the variety of events. Did people live on Antarctica long before it was recorded? A secret society, shocking discoveries--above and below ground, characters with serious problems of their own, and the ice. The Ice is dangerous enough on its own, easily able to kill. Add in the wind, and the terrain itself seems alive.
Really a pleasure to listen to as well. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. Narrator William Andre Gensburger does a fine job with the many voice changes, the accents, as well as the pacing of the story. It was a fantastic listen!
Now I have to get the 10th Cycle. While the 9th Cycle is certainly a stand alone, it has intrigued me to learn more about the cycles and how they were discovered.
I definitely recommend this one! You can find my complete review on Mystery Suspense Reviews.
