About this listen

Reservation "bad boy" Thomas Begay is found dead drunk under the La Plata Bridge, which is not unusual for him. What is unusual, however, is that beautiful BIA investigator Patsy Greyhorse is found lying beside him, not drunk or even a Navajo but very dead nonetheless. Charlie Yazzie, fresh from law school, risks his career and even his life to help his old friend. The answer seems to lie with the Yeenaaldiooshii...should one choose to believe in such things.

Here's a book that was both written and read well. When a Native American drunk is discovered unconscious near the body of a murdered woman, the local authorities consider their case closed. Fortunately for the accused man, not everyone agrees. Knowing he's innocent and proving it are two different things. This story will hold your attention right to the end.

Great book for Tony and Anne Hillerman fans!

The book had a lot of potential. The narration was excellent but the story about 3/4 of the way through got weak. It was like the author got sick of writing and just wanted to finish the book. I would not recommend this book.

Poor ending

Just under 4 hours it’s a perfect little mystery to keep you company whilst your working on something else. It keeps you entertained without requiring too much thinking or brain power. On top of that it has a nice mystery and chase going on.

Perfect audio booklet for when you need to drive somewhere or finish a project

overall the story was ok up until the last 40 minutes or so. I felt like the author was forced to end the story to meet a deadline.

Climax feels rushed and lets down the narrative.

Would you listen to Navajo Autumn again? Why?

Yes. I may even read the book but probably not. Great characters, story and Kaipo Schwartz is an extraordinary reader, voice, actor.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. A culture that is fascinating that I know little about. I truly hope that there is not this much violence in their real world..

Have you listened to any of Kaipo Schwab’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have now. All of them that are available.

Any additional comments?

Great book, great series. I am an Audible addict and this is one of my favorite series.

I'm hooked :)
