About this listen
Much of Jesus’ teaching and preaching was centered around simple, little stories He told. These stories, called parables, gave the listeners something to visualize and connect with. Jesus was teaching revelational truths about God’s kingdom, but in a way that even a child could comprehend. He told stories about a shepherd losing his sheep, a man finding a hidden treasure, fishermen catching a boatload of fish, and farmers planting seeds. The common people loved these stories. Even though they may not have understood the kingdom principles of repentance and reconciliation, they could definitely understand how a loving father would rejoice to see his prodigal son return home.
When I came to understand how much Jesus depended on the telling of parables to convey truths about God’s kingdom, I asked the Lord to show me similar truths about His kingdom through my daily surroundings.
Almost half of the devotionals found in this book are actually parables ... earthly stories with a heavenly meaning. There are hidden truths about God’s kingdom all around us. If our eyes are open, we can see them … and we can hear God speak through them. We need only PAY ATTENTION.
