About this listen
Besides his family, music had always been the most important thing in Carter Greene's life. Having a career in music was everything he had ever dreamed of. That was until the terrible night when he nearly lost everything.
Carter can't get the image of one particular man out of his mind; the man who found him in his darkest moment. The one who risked everything to save him and the same person who most likely never wants to speak to him again.
Ryan Marshall had led a pretty solitary existence ever since his grandfather had passed away. He spent most of his free time renovating the property he had inherited while avoiding the dating scene. Lately, he found himself longing for someone special; a man he could share his life with.
One fateful night, an emergency call placed Carter in Ryan's life and the two felt an immediate connection. Unable to stop thinking about him, Ryan decided to reach out, but was disappointed when Carter was not at all what he expected.
Ryan is determined to move on and forget all about the beautiful man he rescued, but he soon realizes that sometimes fate has other plans.
Music of the Soul is book two in the Souls of Chicago series and can be listened to alone or as part of the series. This audiobook contains sexually explicit material and is intended for adults 18 and older.

Story
The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

Conor: It starts with a drunken text pic. The kind I would normally never send. Only, instead of it going to the flirty hotel bartender, it goes to some random stranger who actually responds. Wells: The first thing I notice about Conor Newell when he sits down in my high-rise conference room is how delightfully nervous he is. Then I see his tie. The same geeky tie that’s held hostage on my phone. The one that belongs to my anonymous late-night texter. And it changes everything.

When he returns from a weekend away, broken and haunted, I can't keep my distance anymore. He needs someone, and I'll be damned if it's not me.

A long time ago, in a suburban high school not so far away, a closeted nerd (me) and a closeted soccer star (Hutch) fell in love and planned to make their public debut at prom. Until Hutch bailed at the last minute, leaving me with a broken heart and unworn tuxedo. Tale as old as time, right? I spent the past ten years working to forget Hutch, returning to our old high school to teach and make new memories that could erase ones of him. I thought Hutch was ancient history, off living his professional athlete life.

Love
I loved Carter and Ryan’s story. You could truly feel their emotional connection throughout the whole story. Their sexy times were so hot at one point I had to pause the book while I was driving! I found myself getting choked up at parts and experiencing all the feels. This was such a well rounded emotional read and it has me eager for the next book of the series.
I really love this series, and on audio it really gives you all the feels. Annabella is such a great storyteller and the narration of her words really pull you right into the story.

Sweet, Sexy Romance
Carter Green loves creating music and hopes to make it big. He has a reputation as a fun-loving playboy, but secretly he longs to find real love. Unfortunately he may have screwed up his chances with the one guy he can’t seem to get off his mind. Just when Carter thinks he’s blown his changes with the gorgeous firefighter who saved his life, fate intervenes and he gets a second chance to make things right with Ryan Marshall.
Music of the Soul was a sweet, feel-good love story. Carter and Ryan have great chemistry and a beautiful connection. I really enjoyed the way Annabella Michaels developed their relationship as the story unfolded.
Michael Pauley’s narration was wonderful. As always, he does such a great job giving each character their own voice and bringing the the story to life.

I adore this series! I read through them and felt every emotion and now I get to listen to them...sigh! Michael Pauley is so very talented. I don't know that I would feel the depth of emotion if I was there with him like I do when he is narrating. I need book 3, like NOW!

Notes of Love
In a moment of pure fear, Carter meets the man who will complete his soul. However, true love never runs smooth, and dealing with an aftermath of a near-death experience pushes Carter to lash out in anger towards the one person who doesn’t deserve his ire. Ryan is disappointed that the man he can’t stop thinking about turns out to be not as wonderful as he remembered. Overcoming this miscommunication is the first step towards a beautiful relationship.
Michael Pauley once again does a spectacular job with the audiobook narration. His performance brings the characters to life and was extremely enjoyable to hear.
Overall Rating: 5 Stars. The writing was smooth, lovely, and very enjoyable to read. The characters were sweet and likable. I loved the pacing of the plot from the action to the drama to the romance. I loved this book.
