About this listen

Was it the environmental activist enamored with spotted owls, someone from the local Native American tribe, Jeff's son, Jeff's wife, or his wife's lover? Join Kelly, the owner of Kelly's Koffee Shop, her boxer dog, Rebel, and her fiancé, Mike, the county sheriff, as they try and catch the person who killed Jeff Black. Well, it's not as if no one wanted Jeff dead. He had a lot of enemies. There were a lot of people who didn't want to see his property turned into a commercial hotel and spa. Finding suspects won't be hard to do, but finding out who killed him will be. No one would ever nominate Jeff for the "Most Popular Citizen Award". This is going to be a nightmare for Mike. I wonder how I can help him, Kelly thought. Murder at Jade Cove is another mouth-watering Cedar Bay Cozy Mystery with recipes included!

The Story Has A Lighthearted And Upbeat Tone Typical Of The Cozy Mystery Genre, With Enjoyable Characters And A Cozy Small-town Setting. However, Some Reviewers Found The Dialogue Unrealistic, The Pacing Slow, And The Plot Predictable With Repetitive Phrases. This was a quick and easy read for me.

This was a quick and easy read for me. It is typical of the cozy mystery genre - a lead that is far nosier than she should be, townsfolk that share far too many secrets, and a town full of possibly murderous people.

Erin deWard did an excellent job narrating. She's a quick reader, so be forewarned.

A Killer Strikes

Cedar Bay Cove is beautiful and draws people to its shores. Unfortunately it's the scene of another murder. Jeff Black is the victim. His plans to build a resort at the cove caused violent opposition. With so many suspects can they find out who killed Jeff? Mike, the county sheriff, is working on it. It's slow going but he's determined not to let Kelly, his fiancée, get involved. She is not easily deterred. She's a warm, open woman who has a talent to get people to open up to her. This small town is filled with interesting and diverse characters. There is no such thing as secrets. Erin deWard captures every nuance of these people. The narration builds the suspense and I was pulled into this cozy mystery. Dianne Harman's style captures all that I love about cozies. I enjoy audiobooks because they make me feel as if I were right there in the middle of the action.

Delightful

It's very seldom that I read a book and wish that it would have carried on or "why did it have to end?" I guess I'll just have to read the rest of this series and very soon too!
I absolutely loved listening to this book. Diane Harman has the knack of placing one right into the story so that I felt I was part of it or even sitting right there watching it unfold from the sidelines. She seems to have the knack of painting a picture with words.

Kelly and her fiancé, Sheriff Mike, find themselves in the middle of a murder and of course they solve it together. The bad guy gets caught and I can't see anyone feeling sorry for him.

If you want an easy, interesting and well written read, this is it.

Erin deWard, the narrator, did a splendid job.

Cozy mystery

Kelly is at it again! She has herself involved in the middle of a murder case again. And her fiancé Mike, who is the county sheriff, Is not happy about it. The owner of a huge property that was going to be turned into a commercial development is found murdered. Kelly tries to figure out who is behind the murder. She heads out with her dog Rebel to talk to different people who could have been involved. There’s lots of suspects in the story. There’s romance and secrets. And puppies! And some more yummy recipes!

Kelly is a character you will wish you knew!

There is a lot going on--murder, a wedding to plan and of course puppies! I found myself smiling often while listening to this novel. I had read it before in e-book form but forgot how many times I had laughed out loud at Kelly who is really good at crossing her fingers behind her back as she makes promises that she never intends to keep! The narrator was able to help you visualize the story in your mind as she spoke the words. You will want to hear more avout Kelly and Sherriff Mike and their dogs!

Not the best DH book

This book kind of pained me. The narrator was screechy and didn't do well with character voices. The story was slow and phrases were repetitive , crossing fingers and promising. There was a lot of back story told that I don't think needed to be told. I'm chalking this up to it being the authors earlier books. I really enjoyed all of the Cottonwood Springs series and was looking forward to starting this series. I was not a fan of this narration at all.

An Extraordinary Amateur Sleuth

I enjoyed this cozy mystery. I was amused by Kelly's inability to help herself whenever there was a mystery to be solved as she felt the need to use her amateur sleuthing skills in spite of all the warnings from her friends and fiancé not to get involved. I liked all the twists in this mystery. I was entertained by the flashes of humor. I appreciated the recipes. I loved Rebel and his role as protector. I enjoyed Erin deWard's narration as her performance was skillful and entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

So much fun and, oh, so addicting!!

The Cedar Bay Cozy Mystery Series by Dianne Harman is so addicting! I love everything about it, as you can tell from my reviews of each book on Audible and Amazon. From the loveable characters (yes, that includes the dogs) to the storyline of each book, this series will not disappoint. Each can be listened to as a stand-alone, but I recommend starting with book 1 because I think you will love them as much as I do!

Also, the narrator Erin deWard does a fantastic job! I love her as the narrator of these books. I couldnt imagine anyone else playing the role of Kelly and the others. I hope she continues to narrate the entire series, as more books are added (yes, please keep adding them!). :-)

I rate this 5 stars all around. In my opinion it is the perfect listen for a drive up north or a Saturday afternoon cleaning the house. All the books of Dianne's are anywhere from 4-5 hours. They are easy to listen to and will keep you feeling stress-free. Give it a try...these characters will wiggle their way into your heart in no time at all! :-)

Thank you for reading my review.
