About this listen
After Zoey is forced to take on a new identity, she heads to Dublin, Ohio to help U.S. Marshal Ray Stark with a murder investigation involving his close friend. Ray suspects the murder is part of an elaborate art heist and is confident that Zoey–now Kiera Glass–has the expertise to crack the case.
With her newly adopted dog, Cody, by her side, Kiera must tap into her past skills to discover the plot behind the theft. As she encounters mysterious neighbors and uncovers unsettling clues, Kiera starts to feel the heat as the investigation intensifies.
Will Kiera be able to find the stolen art and solve the murder before danger finds her? Can an ex-thief uncover the truth in a golf course community to solve the mystery and find both a murderer and a missing masterpiece?

Excellent series with a unique amateur sleuth
Murder and the Old Barn by Dennis Shock is the 2nd in the Taco Truck Series. After her first adventure, Zoey, a participant in the Federal Witness Protection Program (WITSEC) must changes her identity and move. Now known as Kiera Glass, she is asked to help US Marshal Ray Stark, her contact in WITSEC, prove his old girlfriend did not kill her husband. Kiera proved again to be an excellent investigator. Although I enjoyed the story and the mystery and Kiera is a great character, Ray selfishly violated ALL the rules of the WITSEC program that are in place to protect people like Kiera. His request, and her willingness to contact old friends and cronies should cost him his job and get her kicked out of the program! But, it’s fiction, I love the series, and sets up Book 3 (and more?!) so I’ll overlook the breach in protocol. The narration by Jeff Moon was excellent. He voiced multiple characters with unique voices and accents and brought the story to life.

Reinventing Zoey again
Kiera seems to be in more danger in witness protection! Lol. Kiera has a penchant to sleuth, , and she can't stop much to her detriment. . The black widow spider is a lethal mate.. Is this character lethal too??? A very entertaining and enjoyable listen thar kept me glued to my seat until the end. I love these short mysteries. They feed and fuel my soul and imagination just enough until the next book. Great efforts. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a standout job bringing this to life. I highly recommend this series.

Oh the intrigue! The characters! Magic! I love, love, LOVED this!
Zoey had a new identity courtesy of the Witness Protection Program. Now Kiera Glass, she packs up her food truck, loads up her pup Cody, and heads for her new home. Enroute, she gets a call from Federal Marshal Ray Stark asking for a favor … and favor requiring her “unique” expertise … a favor that just might land her in the pokey … or worse! When “Murder and the Old Barn”, priceless art, and ne’er-do-wells aplenty are involved, there is never a dull moment, and I loved every single second of this beautifully flowing, masterfully written and fantastically narrated cosy delight! The plot really kept me entertained and engaged! I love the mystery of subplots weaving deftly through the story, sowing seeds and hinting at future resolutions ~ Kiera and the “cobbler” and the breadcrumbs of possibly a future romance … this, THIS is how a series is built and I am so intrigued! The characters are amazingly lifelike, beautifully balanced and believable. Their dialogue so perfectly realistic that I hung on every authenticity narrated, smooth flowing, beautifully emotive word! I was really a bit worried about how everything was going to resolve for the characters I’d come to care about in this one … I can’t give details without giving it all away, but as you listen, as you come to care for these characters as I did, I’m sure you’ll see the reasons for my concern! What I can say is that our author and narrator are miracle workers and I can’t wait to see where the next incarnation of Kiera goes from here! As for “Murder and the Old Barn”, five fantastic stars across all categories ~ I love, love, LOVED this one!
