Intrigued by the legend and fascinated by the man behind it, reporter A.J. This Should Be A Movie

This is my favorite piece of reporting about World War Ii. it is difficult to believe any of it really happened. It reminds me of something you would read in a comic book, rather than the New Yorker, where the story originally appeared. it is hilarious and also heartbreaking.
