  1. La chiesa cattolica è stata messa a dura prova con la discesa di Napoleone in Italia. Ferdinando di Borbone e il Cardinale Ruffo si ritrovano sulla nave dell'ammiraglio Nelson per riscattare l'Italia dagli invasori francesi. Con loro l'artista grigionese Angelika Kaufmann.
  2. Molti pasticcieri svizzeri furono cacciati da Venezia, la loro arte si diffuse così in tutta Europa. Mazzini, amante delle torte e gran cuoco, unì l'Italia anche grazie alle ricette dei dolci svizzeri, sapendo abilmente mischiare ingredienti del Sud e del Nord.
  3. Goethe, prima di scrivere il suo Faust, intraprese un viaggio in italia. Il famoso poeta, tra le tante avventure al Sud, rubò anche il cuore ad Angelika Kaufmann. Con lui in viaggio il grigionese Carl Ulysses von Salis-Marschlins. Insieme i due scalano il Vesuvio.
  4. Tra il 1700 e il 1850 le maggior parte delle monarchie europee disponevano nei loro eserciti di mercenari svizzeri. Soltanto a Napoli, al servizio dei Borboni, vivevano ben 40.000 soldati confederati. Con la rivoluzione napoletana del 1848 termina il servizio mercenario svizzero.
