About this listen
THE GODS ARE PLAYING THE LONG GAME.
Vidarr Allefar emerges from his cocoon a dremma, a species that hasn’t roamed the Realm since the Great Departure. His mental powers have grown; and so have his challenges. He must retrieve the five parts of the ancient relic, the Rod of the Dreki, said to be distributed amongst the five d’oglemann clans.
His first stop is his clan’s nemesis, the Soolv Spyda. If he survives the encounter, he will have to venture across the Ice Plains…in the dead of winter…to reach the northern clans. All before the second Divine Reckoning arrives.
Meanwhile, Rory Belkin tracks the murderous Sandarin through the farthest d’oglemann enclave in the east. Death and misery precede him, then hound him. Should Belkin survive the evil spirit that entangles his mind, he has a vital clue to aid Vidarr.
In Search of the Rod, not only is the survival of Vidarr’s clan at stake, but the entire Realm rests in his enormous taloned hands. It will take more than his mental powers to succeed, for the Vala, a creature a thousand years old, and the gods themselves have their own ideas of how to save the nine planes.
A tale steeped in a post-Ragnarok world continues…

“Mother warned me about venturing outer doors.”
I’ve been a fan of the Mid Dreki Realms series for a while now, being a veteran D&D role player for decades. Rene’s series is like mother’s milk to me. He is really good at conflicting relationships. Like for example: Danika, Vidarr’s wife, is AN—NOY—ING!!! But that’s good. That is what makes this series fun!
Rene and Duffy are a great team. Concerning Duffy’s voices; I love how he does the dwarves. And how he makes the females sound is damn scary! I mean the sheer talent!
I’m looking forward to the next audiobook in the series.
