About this listen
A balanced account of game changes, conflicts and ambitions. The fall from popular grace of the previously adulated brother of the heir to the British throne as a consequence of his marriage to a beautiful and dynamic Hollywood starlet of colour makes for fascinating listening in best-selling royal author Lady Colin Campbell's balanced account.
Lady Colin knows her royal history and psychology, and as the first seven years of her adult life were spent in the USA, she has a foot in both the American and British camps. With unique breadth of insight she goes behind the scenes, speaking to friends, relations, courtiers, and colleagues on both sides of the Atlantic to reveal the most unexpected royal story since the Abdication.
She highlights the dilemmas involved and the issues that lurk beneath the surface, as to why the couple decided to step down as senior royals. She analyses the implications of the actions of a young and ambitious couple in love with each other and with the empowering lure of fame and fortune.
She leads the listener through the maze of contradictions, revealing how Californian culture has influenced the couple's conduct. She exposes how they tried and failed to change the royal system by adapting it to their own needs and ambitions and, upon failing, how they decided to create a new system altogether.

In The Diana Chronicles, you will meet a formidable female cast and understand as never before the society that shaped them: among them, Diana's sexually charged mother, her bad-girl sister-in-law, Fergie, and, most formidable of them all, her mother-in-law, the Queen. Add Camilla Parker-Bowles, the ultimate "other woman" into this combustible mix, and it's no wonder that Diana broke out of her royal cage into celebrity culture, where she found her own power and used it to devastating effect.

The life of Princess May of Teck is one of the great Cinderella stories in history. From a family of impoverished nobility, she was chosen by Queen Victoria as the bride for her eldest grandson, the scandalous Duke of Clarence, heir to the throne, who died mysteriously before their marriage. Despite this setback, she became queen, mother of two kings, grandmother of the current queen, and a lasting symbol of the majesty of the British throne.

He was born into an ancient powerful dynasty and, through no fault of his own, became one of the most recognisable men on the planet. His life was a constant barrage of press intrusion and manipulation. Until finally, he demanded that it stop. In order to get the privacy he so craved, he has written a frostbite-and-all book that goes deep inside the castle walls and exposes every shouting match, fist-fight, betrayal, teddy bear, awkward hug and tear-stained wedding rehearsal for the world to feast their eyes on.

Story
He was born into an ancient powerful dynasty and, through no fault of his own, became one of the most recognisable men on the planet. His life was a constant barrage of press intrusion and manipulation. Until finally, he demanded that it stop. In order to get the privacy he so craved, he has written a frostbite-and-all book that goes deep inside the castle walls and exposes every shouting match, fist-fight, betrayal, teddy bear, awkward hug and tear-stained wedding rehearsal for the world to feast their eyes on.

In A Royal Duty, Paul Burrell reveals the truth about Princess Diana, as well as a faithful account of her thoughts. He was the favourite footman who formed a unique relationship with the Queen. He was the butler who the Princess of Wales called "my rock" and "the only man I can trust". He was accused of theft, then acquitted following the historic intervention of the monarch. He was the Princess' most intimate confidant.

Perhaps the most notorious American murderer of the 20th century, Charles Manson's legacy extends far beyond his horrific crimes. As the wild-eyed, swastika-tattooed, nightmarishly charismatic leader of the Manson Family, he was convicted of the brutal killings of nine people in 1971, including the Tate-LaBianca murders of seven in Los Angeles over two hot August nights in 1969.

lady c has the real inside story again
Good info, analysis, and understanding.
MM is a bold operator of the first order, and her career will be fascinating to watch. Her great failings seem to be an addiction to self-marketing endless myths of great personal virtue (quite against all factual evidence), and a constant temptation to exaggeration and factual fabrication. And also a habit of massive, ambition-driven, minute-by-minute insincerity.
However, as I have watched her actions since her wedding: I'd never bet against her.
MM (and her practices and methods) will, I hope, be a magnet for serious biographers. She's earned that. She's at least as energetic and bold as the more famous of our internet billionaires.
Harry may also find his way toward a career he values; he seems to be on the way toward promoting psychological treatment access, which is a huge positive if he handles it well.
i hope Harry finds a great path; he seems like he is normally a nice guy; and since they now have children, I wish them every *honorable* success.
While I have cause to regret strongly so many of their choices since the wedding, those choices are in stone now. So ... they will move forward, and I hope it goes well (sans using royalty and the royal family as a promotional factor; they've gotten their mileage there.) Surely no one wants more damage.
I hope MM and Harry stop finding ways to spin/invent "facts", and stop finding excuses to denigrate other persons and organizations during the process of pushing their own personal narratives and brands forward.
Kudos to Lady C for ferocious fact-finding and penetrating understanding. She's been proven right before, and she will be proven right this time as well.
I hope she does a follow-up book or books; MM and Harry have been so busy that this book already needs a "part 2".
The MM and Harry marketing and business teams must find these two to be clients with narrative possibilities and boldness like no other.
So let's see what's next.

Excellent! A must read
This is an excellent inside account of what was really going on behind the scenes. It really connects the dots and reveals the unbelievable amount lies these two put out. It is actually very balanced but it is a brutally honest account of their terrible behavior. Since this was written 2 years ago and the behaviors and betrayals have continued on and actually destroyed all their family relationships (except for the mil) I wonder if some of the angry negative reviewers might see things much differently by now. This is better than Bowers biography but even Lady C says read his too. This is a study in narcissism and how it destroys everything it touches.

Good picture of the unbounded arrogance of Meghan marble
Very much enjoyed this book although I found myself getting worked up as the full picture of how ruthless and mean mm is- hard to believe anyone given all the privileges of royalty and a world stage could squander it in such a way!

open and honest
I was a bit dubious about this book. I enjoyed it greatly. I also liked that the Author has personal contacts to form her story around. it felt balanced and I could not decide if the author liked either Harry or Megan. it is well written and narration good. I intend to listen to her other works now.

I specially enjoyed the explanations of why M’s breach in etiquette seemed so dumb to the US but so important to the British. I learned a lot.

A very articulate and interesting account.
I only wish more details were included about the behind the scenes stories and issues about their wedding. Other than that, the descriptions of Meghan's influences on Harry, and how his personality changed since knowing her, plus the differences between how the Royals, the people of the UK and their Press have regarded M&H and Americans is very interesting. Narrator sounded good and made me want to hear more.

Enlightening
First and foremost I am not a MM fan. I find this book to be written in truth and depicts the facts better than I have read from others. It has also given me a better insight to how I thought of P Di. I was a fan of hers and this book made me look at things through British culture. I feel that MM is a egotistical person to the extreme and has enough smarts to fake the whole rest of her life. PH mistake was to fall in love with her. Thanks for more insight to there like since the got together
