About this listen

Inspired by Asimov, Burroughs and others, here is Mega Man in prose, for the generation that helped him dominate Wily in the '80s. This novel is rated T. Loosely based on Mega Man Megamix by Hitoshi Ariga. "And as if that were not enough, Proto's personality software failed a standard reverse-engineering profile administered by the Department of Psychorobotics at RIT. In short, the reports concluded that though he was "indistinguishable from the control in group and interpersonal affect simulation, unit DLN-000 [Proto Man] scored low in interviews intended to evaluate system conformity to human operant conventions as established by several international charters on robot ethics." Furthermore, he was described as too independent. Dr. Light, however, would see it rather differently." As someone who grew up playing Mega Man games, this book was a fantastic way to revisit the world I loved as a kid. Mega Man: The Robot Masters brings the classic characters to life in a fresh and engaging way, blending elements of sci-fi and robotics with a thoughtful narrative. The story, inspired by Mega Man Megamix and classic sci-fi influences like Asimov, dives deep into the personalities of the characters, particularly Proto Man, adding depth to the lore.

I appreciated how the book stayed true to the spirit of the games while offering something new to longtime fans. The virtual narration was a nice touch, making it easy to enjoy on the go. If you have fond memories of battling Dr. Wily and his Robot Masters, this book is a must-read—it’s like stepping back into that 8-bit adventure in a whole new way!

A Nostalgic and Engaging Read for Mega Man Fans!

I enjoyed it but towards the end it started going forward in time. The Megaman 1 story was an okay start. Nothing special--- by the numbers. There are some inconsistencies with game lore which is bound to happen.

Megaman 2 and onwards was too much to summarize and pointless. Should have stopped at 1 and continued in another book.

Voice was okay not too distracting. Robot voice fits.
