Meditations is former U.S. President Bill Clinton's favorite book. This audio consists of a series of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor 161-180 AD, setting forth his ideas on Stoic philosophy.

Not a huge fan of the reader. Voice is far too monotone. The tone is far too bass and could probably be adjusted.

Meditations is a classic and recommended reading for most. However, the voice of the narrator and the choppy reading made this audiobook tough to listen to. I recommend foregoing this offering and reading the Kindle version.

Classic with subpar narration

I really like The Meditations, unfortunately the cadence of the narrator made this book hard to listen to. He speaks very clearly but I found myself tuning him out and losing interest due to the tone and cadence.

Good book, bad narration

i have learned to be very contempt with myself and those around me being annoying or friendly. I can be stronger in will thru patience and learning how to cool my passions

Obviously one of the greatest works of its time. However, this isn't like a captivating dialogue. Its greek philosophy. So take your time through it.

I found it enjoyable. Reading is a bit monotone, there may be better. Focuses on being 'a man', taking life as it comes and focusing on the big picture. Often ties the troubles of life to just the godless foibles of existence. Mixes the Taoist notion of living in the now with the Hindu ideas of Ahtman and all is one and the Buddhist life is suffering but puts a strong emphasis on maleness (like the Greek?). Listening speed: 1.5x.

A bit hard to follow due to translation, but narrator does a good job otherwise

Translation is a bit old-fashioned

The narrator is so one of the most irratating I have heard. He. Pauses. After. Every. Word. And. It. is. frustating.

I listened to this all the way through and I play it fifteen minutes in the morning when I wake up, during the day or at night. I enjoy the reader , and it helps keep me grounded.

I have had more than one person I have respected refer to this book as an important one.

There are lots of pearls of wisdom in this book. The tough part is listening to them in their original Greek phraseology, in English of course. Hearing about the Greek Gods like Zeus added a level on concentration that didn't make for the easiest of listens.

Still, there is value in listening. In fact, this is the kind of book that might well take more than one listen to fully digest. The book isn't too long and, for me at least, the price was reasonable.
