About this listen
Nina, a new graduate from fashion design in college, gladly accepts the offer to have her palm read as a graduation gift. Smiling, the palm reader tells Nina that she has a long lifeline, as she traces it on her hand. As soon as the words are uttered, the palm reader’s facial expression turns to one of fear. In broken English, she whispers, “Break – very bad break in middle of life. Maybe you die.”
Nina does come close to death at age thirty-four when she and her family are involved in a serious auto accident. She assumes she has successfully cheated the death that the palm reader prophesied. Unfortunately, the sinister and tragic break in the lifeline and its deliverer are yet to be revealed.

I’m no internet sleuth but I tried and tried and tired to verify this story and could never find anyone named Nancy Lee or Nina or anything even remotely related to this. I couldn’t even find their kennel name or their champion dogs which would have garnered some validity.
The narrator has a nice voice and it’s not her fault that she’s the messenger but until I can find some evidence that this book is “true crime” I’m not believing it. It’s all over the place and has no focus on the most interesting parts of the story. There’s zero treatment of the husband’s history, mental state, etc.
the only reason I haven’t returned it is because I’m still trying to figure out if it’s real or not.
