Story
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

Story
There’s never been a female gryphon rider until the day I bonded with Ari. I only wanted to save a blinded gryphon’s life, but the act of bonding with him sets off a chain of events no one could anticipate. We must first prove ourselves at the highly competitive Gryphon Rider Academy, where we train with the nation’s finest young men. If we don’t succeed, our failure is all the proof the Crown needs to take Ari from me. If that’s not enough, our story becomes a piece on a political game board that leads our great nation of Altare into a new war without finishing an old one.

Travers and Thompson are an unbeatable team!
The timeless and colorful writing style of P.L. Travers, who captures life so perfectly in turn-of-the-century England (particularly through the eyes of the Banks children, Jane and Michael), is perfectly matched by the expressive and deliciously-delivered narration of Sophie Thompson! Sophie was absolutely made to narrate these books; her crisp and clean enunciation, coupled with her ability to accurately impersonate the variety of Travers' imaginative characters, engagingly transports young and old listeners alike through the mysterious and magical world of a most wondrous nanny and the people who reside at number 17 Cherry Tree Lane. Comforting, lavish and engaging, these books delivered by this writer/narrator team are everything one could ever want in a srory-telling experience!

Cute and Quaint Mini Story
If you listened to the first 3 or 4 Mary Poppins books, this follows the same characters and is just as much fun. However the format is different because it feels like it's really only one chapter that P.L. Travers couldn't fit into a different book. Still a wonderful story.
