About this listen
Married to the Bottle: A Survival Guide for Spouses of Alcoholics
So you fell in love with Prince Charming, only to discover he prefers kissing a bottle of vodka goodnight. Welcome to the rollercoaster of emotions, chaos, and questionable life choices known as marriage to an alcoholic.
In "Married to the Bottle," you’ll find the ultimate survival guide for navigating life with a partner whose idea of fine dining involves pairing last night’s pizza with a warm beer. This book serves up the perfect cocktail of humor, resilience, and practical advice, helping you dance through the minefield of living with an alcoholic spouse.
Inside, you’ll uncover:- How to Spot the Signs: Because apparently, a collection of empties in the pantry wasn’t enough of a giveaway.
- Coping Mechanisms That Don’t Involve Wine: Tips for keeping your sanity while living with someone who’s made vodka their spirit animal.
- The Art of Small Victories: Celebrating milestones like “Wow, he remembered where the bathroom is tonight!”
- Mastering the Eye Roll: Perfecting that look of affectionate disdain for those awkward family gatherings.
- A Crash Course in Co-Dependency: How to save your partner without losing yourself—because one alcoholic in the relationship is plenty.
- Finding Humor in the Chaos: Why laughter really is the best medicine, especially when the liquor cabinet is empty.
Whether you’re dealing with a full-blown party animal or an undercover sipper, this survival guide will remind you that you’re not alone, you’re not crazy, and yes, it is possible to find hope—and even humor—amidst the madness.

Didn’t finish
It was very repetitive, saying the same things over and over. At times I thought maybe the audio started over.

Way too repetitive
I think it was okay at first? For the usual reasons, I chose this book because I found the idea of an optimistic book about being with an alcoholic incredibly compelling, and hopefully useful. But I kept finding myself monitoring the time clock because I literally thought that portions of the book were stuck in a loop. Now I think they were just the same words, in slightly different orders and combinations, repeated over and over. I had to stop listening eventually because I couldn't tolerate hearing another description of her self reflective journey of collaborative transformation; she just kept saying those same words over and over
At its best, though I appreciated hearing some experiences similar to my own, I didn't really find any useful advice, as I was hoping for.
