A "Chill Pill" for the soul.
So not being a practicing meditation person . . . yeah, back in the early '70''s I fooled around with Transcendental Meditation . . . but hey, the Beatles were into it, right?
I have to admit, going into this audio book I wasn't really sure at all that I could relate to Marcus Aurelius being that he was a Roman Emperor and notable Philosophy genius of his time, which was like centuries ago... but the guy had his share of problems, right? He needed this. But, I won't digress.
What really helped and enlightened me was the .pdf supplement that is available with the audio book. I found myself doing the exercises at each chapter end. It wasn't that I didn't understand the content in the chapters, they are told in a manner that is comprehendible - no problem, but doing the few exercises in the .pdf supplement was the icing on the cake. I got into it, I really did! And it brought me solace and internal peace at a time where I think we all need that.
The narrator was okay, but the content was exemplary. I fully recommend!!

Great audiobook
I am a collector of Stoic works and I own over 15 different editions of Meditations. This little gem is my favorite. In particular the translation is superior to any other edition I have.

Greek Philosophy That Actually Makes Sense
This book is a fantastic find for anyone wanting to dip their toes into Greek philosophy without getting lost in old, dense language.
What stands out about this book is the modern translation of this revered classic. The updated language makes the content clear and easy to follow, which is a big plus if you’re new to this kind of material.
I also appreciated the workbook exercises at the end of each chapter. They help you think about how Stoic ideas can fit into your everyday life. I’ve found myself reflecting more deeply and handling daily stresses better — which I wasn’t expecting from a philosophy book!
This book makes ancient philosophy accessible and relevant and is a great introduction to Stoicism. It’s easy to pick up, hard to put down, and even harder to forget. Highly recommend!

A Thoughtful Modern Translation of Stoic Wisdom
Meditations - A Modern Translation: With Workbook Exercises to Apply Stoic Philosophy is a fresh take on Marcus Aurelius' classic work that combines ancient wisdom with practical, modern-day applications. This translation brings the timeless reflections of the Roman emperor to life in a way that is accessible and relevant to today's readers, making the profound teachings of Stoicism easier to understand and apply.
The book is thoughtfully divided into two parts: the modern translation of Meditations and a set of workbook exercises designed to help readers internalize and practice the principles of Stoic philosophy. The translation itself is clear and straightforward, capturing the essence of Aurelius' thoughts while avoiding overly archaic language. This approach makes it an excellent choice for those new to Stoicism, as well as for seasoned readers looking for a fresh perspective.
The workbook exercises are a standout feature of this edition. They provide practical guidance on how to implement Stoic principles in everyday life, offering readers a hands-on approach to cultivating virtues such as patience, resilience, and mindfulness. These exercises encourage reflection and action, bridging the gap between philosophical theory and practical application.
Overall, Meditations - A Modern Translation: With Workbook Exercises to Apply Stoic Philosophy is a valuable resource for anyone interested in Stoic philosophy. It successfully blends ancient wisdom with modern insights, providing both an informative and transformative reading experience. Whether you're a seasoned practitioner of Stoicism or just starting your journey, this book is sure to offer valuable lessons and inspiration.

Great life teachings!
The first thing I really like about this book is the workbook exercises it contains. After each chapter, it really makes you think about what you listened to, and how you can apply it. A lot of the teachings gets you to look deeply within yourself and understand yourself better. It definitely challenges how you see things at the moment and teaches you how to live in the moment which is what I really liked about it. I would definitely recommend!

Such a wonderful collection of meditations!
I adore this edition of Marcus Aurelius Meditations. The narration is superb and the translation is faithful but very accessible. I was a bit unsure if I was going to use the workbook exercises, but once I started they actually helped me to apply stoic principles into my everyday life

Timeless wisdom
This new translation of Marcus Aurelius's Meditations is crisp, clear, and modern. The wisdom hasn’t aged and is just as relevant today as it was in Roman times. The exercises at the end of each chapter are particularly helpful for processing and applying the ideas to one's own life.

Wisdom For The Ages
I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. This audiobook of meditative practices is based on the writings of Roman Emperor and Stoic Philosopher, Marcus Aurelius. Each chapter ends with thought provoking journalistic exercises. I found his words to be inspiring and I was amazed how his insights are still applicable today. I recommend this audiobook with steaddfast narration for anyone who enjoys history and strives to deepen their meditation.
