About this listen

Following the success of At Blackwater Pond, this second CD from best-selling poet Mary Oliver contains a selection of 37 previously published poems and four as yet uncollected, read by the poet in her steady, magnetic voice. Oliver recites from the full range of her poetry - from her classic nature writing, to her verses for her mischievous bichon Percy, to her ever-deepening spiritual poems. Many Miles will be a most welcome addition to the collections of her fans.

I had not read any Mary Oliver until my daughter recently recommended her to me. I have now enjoyed all the Mary Oliver Audible has to offer. I am sure her writing will not speak to everyone, but her themes and style were about as powerful for me as any poet I have read. There is a wonderful blending of thoughtfulness, humor, wonder, and grief.

The author's narration is wonderful and enhances every poem.

Thoughtfulness, humor, wonder, and grief.

Relaxing read akin to sitting outdoors on a sunny day taking in nature. If you like Robert Frost you'll like this.

Nature lovers will enjoy hearing these poems.

Beautifully read by the poet. A treat for the music alone. Takes outside inside, and vice versa.

Lovely selection of Mary Oliver's fine work. My only suggestion would be to allow a little more space between each poem, and possibly some music. For me, it was paced too quickly and did not allow time for any reflection between poems.

Wonderful....but could be paced more slowly

Never a disappointment, always wonderful to hear her poetry in her own voice. Reading her beautiful reflections in print is one experience but having it read to you is such a treat!

Classic Oliver

Is incredible to hear the poems of Mary Oliver as she speaks them so delicately from her own mouth. Thanks

I love everything about Mary Oliver and the poetry she writes. In these difficult times when reading or listening to the news is akin to pitched battle, Mary Oliver’s poetry provides a beautiful and serene place to stop and enjoy life.

Love Mary Oliver!

Some scholar said that poems were meant to be read aloud. And, I’ve never experienced any as these read aloud by their author, Mary Oliver. Her reading endows these exquisite observations with eloquent and moving language that moves me in every line. We miss you Mary Oliver.

Poems read aloud. Ahhh.
