About this listen
Declan O'Bryan left Ireland to seek his fortune in the New World, but the journey was long for a man without a penny to his name. It took years of back-breaking work as a sailor and a journeyman for him to finally reach Montana, and to have enough money to his name to earn the title of proud homesteader. There's only one thing missing from his life now, and unlike the boys in town, he's not convinced a man should find a wife in a catalog, the same way he buys a plow.
But for Margaret McGreggor, answering an advertisement for a wife is the only way she can get out of her sister's cramped apartment and start a new life for herself. She came to America for adventure and opportunity, and marrying a stranger just might provide her with both.

Mail Order Bride Margaret
Mail Order Bride Margaret: Montana Destiny Brides, Book 1
Written by: Amelia Rose
I absolutely adore sweet clean historic romance novellas, and audiobook format is the best of the best!! We find O'Bryan wanting a wife. His friend convinces him to send for a mail order bride. Margaret McGreggor answers his ad, and soon she made her way west. Declan's friend made more suggestions that caused conflict. There was subtle humor that had me laughing out loud. I want more of these tales.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. The voices were pleasant to listen to.

Sweet and Short
Any additional comments?
I love this Narrator he always does such good accents and gives each character such personality. This was a sweet short story.. Ned and Margaret are set be wed but between getting to know each other and getting married there is a lot of miscommunication and even a horrible accident that step in the way.

An Audible Book that is hard to pause
Would you consider the audio edition of Mail Order Bride Margaret to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version but the audio edition was entertaining.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Margaret or "Mags". Her plight in life was so true in the period in which the book took place. She dealt with the problems of life head on and didn't let them overtake her.
Which scene was your favorite?
The train ride out west when her nerves got the best of her and her friends "remedy".
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did a lot of smiling while I listened to the book
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed reading the book. I wish it had been longer and the story about Margaret and her new husband continue at least through their first year of marriage and the difficulties they would encounter in the west.

A Sweet Western Romance..
Any additional comments?
This is a quick clean read that takes place when there is a shortage of women, so, the men in the small Montana town, who desired a wife and family resorted to Mail Order Brides.
The main characters, Declan O'Bryan and Margaret McGreggor, start writing each other and soon Margaret agrees to marry him.
They have a couple of things in common including both being from Ireland and both being stubborn.
Declan under-reacts to things while Margaret over-reacts which leads to an interesting couple.
Overall this was an interesting read but there were times when Declan took the advice of his friend, Ned,
and it resulted in a couple of misunderstandings between him and Margaret.
Declan relied too much on his friend's thoughts / opinions but it was good that he was able to admit to his faults.
I also felt that, the story could have been a little longer.
Charles D. Baker did well with the narration.

Looking forward to book 2 of this enjoyable series
I love these Mail Order Bride books. Amelia Rose has a definite knack for writing a well developed short romance. Declan O'Brien is trying to get his life together. He has his farm, which with the help of his neighbors is coming along, he has his job, now he needs a wife. With the advice of his neighbor, Ned, he begins writing Margaret. She agrees to marry him and makes her way to Montana. These two trip over each other in numerous scenarios, miscommunication...misunderstanding...awkward encounters..you smile through the whole book and fall in love with them both. Very enjoyable listen.
Charles D Baker has the best accent for these characters, love to listen to him. He brings the story to life and makes it fun! Definitely a great time.
