Mass killings and shootings have gone from being a rare occurrence to a horrific, common and daily occurrence in the United States. Shootings and killings now occur in places of worship, schools, movie theaters, grocery stores, shopping malls, gas stations, restaurants and hospitals. America’s “leadership” is so failing and weak, government officials in Congress cannot even agree on the necessity of background checks for those seeking to purchase a gun and assault weapon. Thus, crime, murder, violence, rape, assault and battery are at an all-time high. Meanwhile, substance abuse and addiction are equally astronomical and unstoppable with the present legalization of drugs (including legal prescriptions from medical doctors authorizing the use of mind altering psychiatric drugs, pain killers and the combination of medicines which are together increasingly lethal).
An armed society that is immoral, unrestrained, increasingly angry, divided, economically frustrated and impoverished; struggling with inflation, rising prices (gasoline, food and property rental) are hot, explosive, medicated and ready to erupt.
In the midst of the madness, we are reminded of our Creator and His holy Word, godly guidelines and principles for good living. Although our government may have failed us, we can still attempt to look in the mirror of God’s Word, humble ourselves to pray and let our conscience hearken to a higher law whereby we can uprightly govern ourselves to rise above the moral depravity and be better.
