Navigating the rivers of Africa, to Kaathi’s village, the trio get lost and encounter hostile natives who have never seen white-skin people. They are taken prisoners and are observed for days to determine what to do with them. The natives discover that one of the women is living only on water and are suspicious and frightened by her ability to survive without eating solid food. For the trio to escape, she must convince the natives she is a god or the women will become concubines and Nicholas a slave.
