Story
The pain that happened to you is real . . . and it matters immensely. The notion of healing what you can’t erase is not about ignoring the devastation of your past or putting a glossy, positive spin on current tragedy. That plastic version of faith isn’t actually faith; it’s unbelief. Healing What You Can’t Erase offers a far better solution—a road map for moving forward through the losses and scars by allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to transform us . . . spirit, soul, and body.

Story
In Push Off from Here, McKowen delves deeply into each of her nine points: what they mean, how they work, and how every person can live them. She addresses topics such as the correlation between trauma and addiction, the importance of radical honesty, letting go of the illusion of control, the value of community, a reminder that healing is a continual process, and that the process is a gift. Whether you’re just starting out or have been sober for decades, McKowen instructs us to be kind to ourselves: Change is messy and progress is rarely linear, but we can always push off from here.

More Than Quit Lit—A Scripture-Shifted Return to My Self
I loved Christy’s honesty, her use of Scripture, and the way this book became more of a spiritual mirror than just a sobriety tool. I didn’t expect it to deepen my connection with God, but it absolutely did. There was nothing I disliked—this book is filled with grace and wisdom. This book can be used any 40 days of the year!! Thanks for sharing a piece of your story Christy. Blessings and Gratitude to you. Roe

Best resource I’ve come across for Christian sobriety seekers
I’ve been devouring resources since I began pursuing sobriety and I was often frustrated at the options that focused on the really bad boozy days of old with not much of helping me look forward to sober life. Christy masterfully captures the snares of alcohol spiritually, emotionally, and physically. She shared some well timed boozy bad behavior stories but she mostly turned my eyes to look to Christ, self examine with hope in Christ, and highlighted alllll the positives of sober life.
I listened on Audible but immediately ordered a paper copy so I can go back through and do the journaling activities.

Not just a book, but a life changing experience.
I just finished my 40-day fast and I couldn’t imagine having done it without this book and Christy’s guidance. Today is day 40 and I am filled with energy, joy, and hope for the future. I love that she ended it with Jeremiah 29:11-13. I can’t wait to see what plans God has in store for me and I’m excited to be pursuing Him with a clear mind and an open heart.
