Dallas Willard
About this listen
Learn the secret of living with contentment, peace, and security.
Pause for a moment and ask yourself what your life would be like if it were completely without fear? If you did not fear death. If you did not fear life and what it might bring. If you did not fear any man, or woman, or any living creature. Would you live differently?
In this unique work of never-before-published teaching, Dallas Willard revolutionizes our understanding of Psalm 23 by taking this comfortably familiar passage and revealing its extraordinary promises: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.... I will fear no evil." The psalmist claims to live without any need and without any fear. How is that possible?
Written with Willard's characteristic gentle wisdom, Life Without Lack reveals the secret to enjoying God's presence and becoming utterly caught up in his abundant generosity. The more we practice living in his presence, the more we experience the peace and freedom from worry that is promised in the psalm. Based on a series of talks by the late author and edited by his friend Larry Burtoft and by his daughter, Rebecca Willard Heatley, Life Without Lack will forever change the way you understand and apply the most well-known passage in all of Scripture.

"Who am I becoming?" That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. Outwardly, he appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren’t pretty. So, he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: "Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life." It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was - and continues to be - the answer he needs. Within this audiobook, you’ll find a fascinating road map to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.

When Christians share their faith, they often appeal to reason, logic, and the truth of doctrine. But these tactics often are not effective. A better approach to spread Christ's word, Dallas Willard suggests, is to use the example of our own lives. To demonstrate Jesus's message, we must be transformed people living out a life reflective of Jesus himself, a life of love, humility, and gentleness.

Dallas Willard, the author of the best-selling spiritual classic The Divine Conspiracy, now fulfills his revolutionary vision of how the kingdom of God is made real on Earth in this sequel, the last book he was working on before his recent death. In The Divine Conspiracy, revered Christian philosopher and scholar Dallas Willard critiqued the church's obsession with "sin management" and revolutionized our understanding of true Christian discipleship. Jesus is not a remote savior, waiting to welcome us into heaven after we die, Willard argued.

The Bible is a piercing drama, a tale of prophets and wandering spirits, heroic mothers and flashing swords, cosmic mountains, and a dry, shadowy Sheol. It is a true story that defines the nature and purpose of reality, and its claims are astonishing. But few modern listeners experience the Bible that way. In this groundbreaking audiobook, celebrated storyteller Blaine Eldredge draws upon years of research to illuminate the story of the Bible through the lives of six kingly characters.

Being close to God means communicating with him—telling him what is on our hearts in prayer and hearing, and understanding what he is saying to us. But how do we hear God's voice? How can we be sure that what we think we hear is not our own subconscious? What role does the Bible play? What if what God says to us is not clear? The key, says bestselling author Dallas Willard, is to focus not so much on individual actions and decisions as on building our personal relationship with our Creator.

From Dallas Willard, one of the most important Christian intellectuals of the 20th century, comes a collection of readings, interviews, talks, and articles - many previously unpublished. In his groundbreaking books, teacher, philosopher, and spiritual guide Dallas Willard forever changed the way many Christians experience their faith. Three years after his death, the influence of this provocative Christian thinker - "a man devoted to reestablishing the exalted place moral reasoning once held in the academy" ( Christianity Today) - remains strong.

Story
Dallas Willard, the author of the best-selling spiritual classic The Divine Conspiracy, now fulfills his revolutionary vision of how the kingdom of God is made real on Earth in this sequel, the last book he was working on before his recent death. In The Divine Conspiracy, revered Christian philosopher and scholar Dallas Willard critiqued the church's obsession with "sin management" and revolutionized our understanding of true Christian discipleship. Jesus is not a remote savior, waiting to welcome us into heaven after we die, Willard argued.

Dallas Willard spent his life making eternal living concrete for his friends. After his unexpected passing in 2013, the kaleidoscope of memories and the diversity of the lives he had touched could not be confined to one or even two memorial services but three. It is this wide breadth of impact that inspired friends, family, colleagues, students, and leaders of the church to gather their reflections on this celebrated yet humble theologian and philosopher.

Story
We all have ideas that we tell ourselves about God and how he works in our lives. Some are true--but many are false. James Bryan Smith believes those thoughts determine not only who we are, but how we live. In fact, Smith declares, the most important thing about a person is what they think about God. The path to spiritual transformation begins here.

Story
In his acclaimed books, renowned writer, speaker, and philosophy professor Dallas Willard explored the nature of Christian life in God's Kingdom. Yet one topic remained undisclosed: Willard's understanding of heaven and eternal life. In the months before his death, Willard engaged in moving and insightful conversations about the meaning of life and the life to come with close friend and theologian Gary Black, Jr. These inspiring dialogues were steeped in biblical theology as well as practical wisdom grounded in the here-and-now.

Story
Eleven months after he was liberated from the Nazi concentration camps, Viktor E. Frankl held a series of public lectures in Vienna. The psychiatrist, who would soon become world famous, explained his central thoughts on meaning, resilience, and the importance of embracing life even in the face of great adversity. Published here for the very first time in English, Frankl's words resonate as strongly today as they did in 1946. He offers an insightful exploration of the maxim "Live as if you were living for the second time".

Story
In one of his most enlightening works, C. S. Lewis shares his ruminations on both the form and the meaning of selected psalms. In the introduction he explains, "I write for the unlearned about things in which I am unlearned myself." Consequently, he takes on a tone of thoughtful collegiality as he writes on one of the Bible's most elusive books.

How to get all you want--allow wants to change
Do you really love Jesus so much that your wants become exactly the same as what he gives you? This is a book that either will change your life (in which case you will love it) or it won't (in which case you won't.)
Your response to the book depends on your attitude. The content is drawn from a small group study session guided by Dallas Willard. He's a biblical philosopher. Those who have known him (I've talked to some of them) will tell you that he comes very close to living by his own philosophy.
Do you really want to live your life by the promises in the 23rd psalm? Surprisingly, it's practical and possible. But it's not easy. Simple, but not easy. Can you learn to forgive? To love? To invite Christ into everything you do, every day? Do you dare to want to?
Maybe you're just curious. It will be a hard book to read, but it will be a thought-provoking book. Are you really trying to live a Christian life, and discouraged that you can't really do it? Then this book is a must-read. It will give you a path that puts a Christ-filled life in the realm of possibility.
Every Christian should at least try to become familiar with this book. It will give you a picture of what a relationship with Jesus is like. Do you dare?

The Lord is my Shepherd.
This book found me at just the right time and speaks to one of my core fears. This book is structured around Psalm 23 and is intended to help readers go so deep in their love and trust of God that they live without lacking anything. Psalm 23 is one of my favorite passages and I have long pondered its meanings and content, but in this book, Willard provides many parallels, lessons, perspectives, and truths to layer on top of the core understanding I had. Willard walks through each line in depth and wisdom from a life of theology and counseling. He talks about faith and how to grow it. He talks about how to experience the presence of God in new and profound and practical ways. The book also explores letting go of anger and giving forgiveness. Finally, Willard describes how we can grow through the service of those close to us, always using Jesus as an example. One of my core fears is a scarcity mentality. This book speaks directly to the heart of that fear by giving me words and wisdom to focus on God who has always given me everything I need. He gives me so much security that I can serve others freely, even to the point of serving my enemies. This has started the growth of a profound peace for me in a world of chaos. Jason - thanks for this gift.

It Was Alright
I thought the book would get more into specifically showing you how to believe God for financial provision, but it was more of a global sufficiency. The author definitely seemed to live in what he preached.
