About this listen
I authored a book in 2020, entitled "Re-Generation X: How Generation X Can Leverage Blockchain Technology to Save Themselves and Rebuild America," This book courageously explores blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, and how we can leverage them, generationally, for the re-generation of Gen Xers who were sidelined by Corporate America and Wall Street last decade. My main point was to show how blockchain could make the difference. But I was misguided. It is not technology itself that makes a difference. Instead, it is the application of technology through Web3 ethos that makes the difference.
Through Web3 ethos, people become owners. They own their creation, their content, their inventions and the distribution of their owned creations instead of the company they are working for at the time owning this content. With the application of Web3 ethos, people can unlock their potential; trust themselves, their peers, and their clients; and feel as though they are included in something greater than themselves or their current employer. And they can build something that transcends just the immediate need to make ends meet.
Three areas of critical exploration with the concept of ownership are media, social media, and gaming. Users are no longer just "renting" content or assets—they truly own them and can trade or transfer them freely. Cryptocurrencies provide the opportunity to motivate participation in the Web3 ethos, as do a sense of belonging, being heard and understood, and making a greater contribution to humanity.
This nineteenth book in the Crypto Hipster Mysticals series, entitled "Let's Play Checkers; Let's Play Risk…Yes, Yeh, Yea, Yeah!!" offers insights into what it means to be an active participant in Web3 through the lens of media, social media, and gaming. Kurt Ivy is a co-founder at Simple Crypto PR, Head of PR for SHOPX, Marketing Advisor for Altar, shares what the crypto public relations firm of the future could look like. Ayelen Denovitzer, co-founder and CEO of Qubit, discusses her insights on how gamers can achieve easier access to Web3. Christina Rud, Co-Founder of Squid, tackles some of the greatest challenges facing Web3 users today and how her company is helping to lessen these difficulties. Andrea Berry, Head of Development at Theta Labs—the brains behind the leading chain for media and entertainment, Theta Network—and a former director at Vimeo, shares how to focus on lessening churn through decentralized streaming. And Rick Porter, CEO and Co-Founder of DSCVR, shares his experience with building a community-driven, Web3 social media platform.
