About this listen
Following an encounter in a deadly forest, two unlikely souls must join as one—or perish alone. Outcast shape-changer, called Ursakar by his people; Thorn struggles to understand the mysteries of his shadowed past while bearing the burden of an even more uncertain future. Meanwhile, the huntress tasked with the execution of his kind, Keira is forced to question the nature of her mission and whether those of her ruling order are as noble as they appear. Past and present soon collide with the discovery of a relic both ancient and prophetic in design.
Drums of war resound from the north, yet the two find themselves beset by a far greater threat near at hand—the same darkness that prompted the downfall of those who dwelt amongst these lands long ago. Against an enemy all but forgotten to the sands of time, even the unlikeliest of allies will prove better than none. A harbinger of the end approaches, but only those with the eyes to see can forestall its inevitability.
Is it the will of the gods or mere coincidence that such events come to pass? Either way, to save their world from ruin, they must first discover the secrets buried beneath the weight of untold eons…
”Foul things linger, where doomed men once dwelled.”
…A strange sense of foreboding; as though he’d almost understood what lay on the other side, Thorn hesitated before pressing forward. The imposing door creaked open with a groan not perceived in ages, and the light began pouring into the adjacent room. The two of them shielded their eyes from the stinging radiance, though they kept their weapons within close reach, uncertain of what they may encounter once inside. They soon found themselves in awe as the antechamber drifted into focus, and the magnificence of the ancient stone architecture appeared before them in splendid detail.
Partially in ruin from the sheer age of the meticulously crafted structures, the evidence of a once-thriving civilization gleamed forth. Despite their inexplicable disappearance from history, the original Atlamerians were an enigma to those who wished to learn more of their strange innovations—and a matter of warning to all against delving too deep. Intricately carved pillars of solid marble supported a vast tiled ceiling that stretched as far as the eye could see, and verdant strands of vine and algae blanketed the floor. Across the immense chamber and over the stonework they crept, as the earth mother reclaimed her rightful place amongst her grand design.
Armored statues stared out over a sea of rubble, toward a strange dais which shone like the light of a burning sun at its center. Soon the answer to their luminescent mystery would become an even greater mystery within itself. Drawn further inside like moths to a flame, their curiosity turned to puzzlement as Thorn beheld an even more profound oddity. From the leather bag that Keira wore fastened across her shoulder, a translucent glow radiated from within. As she realized it, she quickly shed the weight of Thorn’s bag and placed it on the ground. There they observed the bizarre phenomenon with bewilderment…
