Great Way to Review French
This excellent series is great for reviewing one's French. The native speakers, English phrases given, followed by French and the ability to repeat it twice made it easy to use. These became my "workout" CD's. I spent an hour a day, while walking, listening and using this program. When I went on my trip about a month later, my French from 20 years ago had comfortably returned. I would highly recommend this for students for practice.

Just what I was looking for
I'm preparing for a trip to France. I took 3 yrs French in high school & 2 yrs in college over 30 years ago. I had very little conversation in school but I wanted to be able to speak to the locals while I traveled.
I got Pimsleur Quick & Simple French, which was good, especially the pronunciation, but it wasn't advanced enough for me. Then I got Immersion Plus:French but that was too advanced. (It's basically French conversations done at a fast & a slow speed, but no translations into English!) Then I found this audiobook. You're given a sentence in English, and there's a pause while you translate into French, then they give the French translation. Chapters are organized by subject or by certain aspect of grammar, a verb tense, for example, or "driving in your car". I find old vocabulary popping into my head as I work through this download. I'll probably review this audiobook again, then go on to the next tape. It's very good for a brush-up!

An Excellent Way To Learn
I really enjoyed this program. Initially, I was put off by the 'jump in to the deep end' approach, but after listening to it a couple times. I found myself being able to have decent conversations in french. My only criticism would be that it would be more helpful if they would briefly discuss irregularities prior to using them. Etre verbs and me, te, and vous pronouns specifically.

You can really learn in your car.
I've already done some basic french study, so started the Learn in Your Car series at Level 2. Even after just a few days driving to work my confidence is getting up. Initially I thought that I wouldn't be able to learn much by just hearing the phrases but now I'm starting to get in before the translation and anything I don't understand I just look up in my own English French dictionary and I learn it even better.
Recommended. Give it a chance and practice the rest of the time.

Not as convienent as the c.d.'s or tapes
This series is very good. I started with the cassette tapes, which are fairly easy to rewind when you want to repeat a lesson or a phrase. I was thrilled when Audible offered this for the P.C. / portable music player, however I have not listened to it much because it is next to impossible to go back over a lesson or phrase, much less find the specific lesson I want to review. The sound quality is much better than the tapes, but not worth the hassle. If you don't mind listening to the whole thing at once...buy it!
