About this listen
Five hundred years ago, a boy from 100 years ago discovered something that today sets magic free in our world.
Elias is an imaginative nine-year old boy whose parents are forced to sell off their family farm. Before the auctioneers arrive, however, Elias takes matters into his own hands and sets off to discover a legendary remedy. His adventure quickly spans both place and time.
While traveling in the Age of Exploration, his firm belief that dreams can come true inspires a tired explorer to go on one more voyage. They, along with other unexpected visitors from the future, battle high seas, cannibals, and conquistadors.
Together, they will reveal life lessons in stewardship, love, and forgiveness as well as discover an enchanting gift that will captivate generations of children and adults the world over.
Popular novelist Jason Born brings his penchant for fun and action to life in League of the Lost Fountain. Kids aged 9 to 99 will cherish this time-slip historical fantasy that reveals just how a certain magic kingdom can be so magic.

Story
Joni had always been fascinated by the history of her family’s old antebellum plantation. Her ancestor’s journals were filled with stories, many involving two slave girls, the older of whom was deeply involved in the “red magic” of the Bokors. When Messalina returns from the grave on a quest of vengeance, Joni must confront the wickedness of her own family’s past, while also embracing a truth even more ancient—that she is descended from a line of Druids. Joni is the only one who stands between Messalina and her insidious plans.

I designed and started to write The Ancestor in the Mirror as a cross-curricular material while I was working as a Earth Space Science and Biology teacher in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. The main point was to provide support to a group of ELL students who were struggling with different subjects. I started to gather information in 2012 and finished my research when I moved to Boston, Massachusetts.

Treat your kids to these quick 10-minute action-packed Greek legends! Studies have shown that developing an “atomic habit” - just doing a few minutes a day of whatever skill or habit you want to take on can be more than enough to engrain it into our lives. Therefore, we have transformed timeless, legendary stories into 10-minute, bite-size chunks long enough to entertain, enthrall, and even educate the youths but short enough to be enjoyed quickly at bedtime or any other point in our busy modern days.

Adventure, Action and Magical!
League of the Lost Fountain is a tale involving time travel, discovering the fountain of youth, pirates, cannibals, and so much more! It is a book of life lessons focusing on love, forgiveness, truth, and kindness. This is a fun story rich with vivid details and the wonder of magic. Even the man who created the most magical place in the world makes a brief appearance!
Jason Born creates a story that is colorful, charming, and delightful. Each character is well developed but only when it is appropriate, which then adds to the richness of the story making the twists even more significant. Born writes in a style that enables the listener to keep the time travel piece straight as well as the unique situations the characters find themselves.
The narrator, Brian T. Schultz does a commendable job of providing unique voices for each character along with accents and other identifying vocal attributes. Schultz keeps the flow of the story moving at a quick but steady pace, adding intonations where they are appropriate. He kept the story moving forward and steady.
This is a fun book and while it may be for young adults, it has valuable life lessons that all adults need to be reminded of at any age! I highly recommend this book.
There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook.

Engaging adventure for time travelers!
A great read/listen for tweens, teens and adults who enjoy historical fiction and time travel adventures of pirates and early New World explorers. Engaging storyline with unexpected twists in the plot is enhanced by rich language, descriptive details and an array of well defined characters who come alive through a skilled narration that effectively delivers multiple voices in a variety of dialects. While this book is longer than many on the market today, the audio captured and maintained my interest from beginning to end. I’m definitely hoping there is a sequel planned for the near future!!

Fun and fantastic tale
An energetic tale that will entertain young readers and adults. The story is full of detail that will sweep you into the landscape of the moment and move you along as if riding beside the main characters. Plenty of adventure, action, and plot twists to engage the reader. Although not without conflict between characters, this is a pleasant yarn and a story with lessons well crafted in their execution.
The narrator did an astounding job at bringing the many characters to life. I was quite impressed with the variations he managed to portray. Even so, pay attention as there is quite a cast.
Very enjoyable!

Entertaining and Educational
Funny story. I was halfway through this book when my 8th grader asked me to help her study for her social studies test. On the European explorers of the Americas. I said “oh hey, I know this”.
Entertaining way to bring history to life for kids.
Narrator was great. Especially the varying inflections and accents. (But I admit I sped it up quite a bit.)

Truly a captivating Story
Jason Born has taken fantasy, history, adventure, romance and mystery and combined them all into one children’s story. The way he has brought forth multiple stories and intertwined them into one large narrative is ingenious. He continually leaves his reader in a state of curiosity, giving hints as to what is coming next, always leaving the reader desiring more. The characters are enticing, and the performance of Brian Schultz only makes them all the more intriguing. Between the detail of the writing and the drama of the narration, the reader is left truly able to picture in their own minds what everything must be like in the story.
I definitely recommend this book for any parent to have their children learn and be entertained, and even read for themselves!
