A weekend away in the middle of nowhere, sounds peaceful, right? Now add a lifetime of fear and a crazed stalker, what could go wrong?
Jen inherits her Grandmother’s home in a rural town in Maine after her father passes away. Now she is forced to return to the place responsible for her childhood trauma.
At night a man has watched her for years — cigarette lit and lantern in hand. For years he has only watched from afar, until someone else gets in the way, tipping the scales.
The man decides it is time to take what he believes is his.

the events that took place in wanted more..
I like the story line and the events that happened. I thought the narrator was a little too monotone for me. she sounded like she was a robot and not a human, there was not emotion to the words or the story. although this book left me wanting more and to see what happens

Immersive and evocative
The author did a great job conveying the necessary information and quickly developing the characters. I don't usually go for horror, but this story came highly recommended and did not disappoint. I'm definitely adding more from this author to my TBR, including the next story in this series.

It was creepy.
Creepy shirt story. I wish it would have been a longer story, but it was pretty good. The narrator did a good job.

Creepy and intense!
Lantern by J.M. Gokey
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is a super fun and creepy short horror story!!
Jen inherites her grandmother house after her father passes away. The memories Jen has from being there as a child aren’t great ones. She always felt that someone with a cigarette and lantern was watching her. Coming back now, as an adult, she still has her concerns.
The story is well written and grabbed me quickly! There’s several surprises and twists I didn’t see coming!
I definitely wanted more of thintense story and I can’t wait for book 2!!
The narrator did a great job too!
*A must read for a very short horror story!*

Short and Sweet
This is a well written, quick and easy read. It's dark and gets under your skin in the best of ways. It's only a 3 from me because I wanted more. I look forward to more from this author

First read of 2025 did not disappoint! Can’t wait to see more from this author! Well told story, great writing, creepy plot! I just wish it was longer!

Horror come to life
Very chilling. If you are looking for something that packs a punch is a short amount of time take a listen. Narrator has a hauntingly beautiful voice.
