Better
Although I loved the setting of the Greek Isles for the last book, I liked the variation of 'coming back home.' It helps give the main character, DS Abby Foulkes some depth and backstory. There are some great secondary characters that are lacking in the first book. This book felt a bit more real although there is still a British Nancy Drewness about her. I find it interesting that I have not rated this book as well as some that I liked far less. I think it is because the potential for this series to get much much better is real and I want to save some 'stars' for that.. Also I tend to rate within the genre which gives a great cozy mystery the same ranking as I would give Louise Penny even though Ms Penny's books blow any cozy out of the water. Enough justification! I really liked this book as I did the first - I heard some very good improvements in this second book one of which is the narrator. Much better!

Wow! I couldn't put it down!
I really enjoyed the first one in the series and this one was better. It grabbed me and I had a hard time putting it down. My only complaint is that this one has a very bloody tale to tell. So as a caution if you have a hard time with details in bloody crime scenes then you may want to avoid this one... if that isn't a problem for you then this was a fast and intriguing read. I stayed up until 1:30 am to finish this one because toward the end it was simply too hard to stop. I'm now ready to start the third one. The narrator also did a wonderful job.

The Series maintains its momentum.
In the second book of this series the high standard of the first book continues,
The mystery is well advanced in the investigation phase with the story advancing with well established characters and a good
story.
The Narrator does a good job and helps to advance the story.

Intriguing & Engaging
Lady's Slipper is the follow up book to "The Hibiscus Fruit" and I must say that I enjoyed this book much more that I did Book 1 as I found I was more engaged with the story and the characters. The story is fast paced, interesting and more intriguing. I found the characters to be much more developed and more relatable.
The narration by Carrie Goodwiler was great. She has good pacing and the tone of her voice is very pleasant to listen to. She knows when to add inflection and increase her pace to build suspense and thrills to keep you engaged in the story. Her character voices and accents were spot on.

Better than the first book
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBoom dot com.
The narrator was ok. I like her voice, but she doesn't give distinct character voices which can make it difficult to follow.
There are a lot of characters in the story which made it a little difficult for me to follow. I like the story better than the first novel since she's actually investigating the murder and the novel ends with closure. (in the first novel we never resolve the mystery).

A good mystery book
I have been able to follow the story even though I have not read/listened to the first book. The book in set in England and some of the terminology is a little different than hear in the states. DS Abby Foulkes has to work to find the true murderer. Caileigh Watson's mother was murdered and she witnessed it when she was two years old. There was a conviction. A new witness has come forward that would prove the conviction was wrong. But then they both, the new witness and Caileigh, disappear. It is up to Abby to find them.
The narration was good. She was very enjoyable to listen.
