About this listen
Walt has his hands full battling animal abusers and a loan shark threatening to lop off a client’s pinky. But the real test comes when a landlord asks Walt to help him sue Kansas City, which has passed the Tenant Bill of Rights. This bill makes people with evictions and criminal records a protected class.
Due to this new ordinance, a rent dodger with a history of evictions has moved into a client’s building. As the case progresses, Walt soon realizes that this new ordinance and the people it protects are a landlord’s worst nightmare!

The Landlords’ Nightmare and so much more...
Walt and his partner take on more cases at their PI firm including one that hits a bit close to home. I really enjoy the variety of cases that we get to experience. Walt and Kevin are great geriatric gumshoes. Just be warned, this book ends quite suddenly and we are left with a big unanswered question!
I’m not much for unanswered questions, but Robert Thornhill certainly provides both sides of the topic for you to mull over. It really makes you think about things.
I’m so happy to see that George Kuch continues to be the voice of Walt Williams. I did find a few minor blips in the audio where parts were obviously re-recorded and didn’t blend in as seamlessly as usual. Still a very entertaining listen.

Didn't like the ending
The author provided me with a complimentary copy of this audiobook with no expectation of a review. This book wasn't as good as the others in the series. I found it a bit boring and didn't like the ending at all. However, this will NOT keep me from continuing the series.

Have you heard the one about...
dishonest-people, animal-welfare, crooks, verbal-humor, situational-humor, law-enforcement, private-investigators, family-dynamics, friendship
Walt retired from Real Estate at the usual age (he is now mid-seventies), then spent five years as an auxiliary cop, then opened a PI office with his brother-in-law all while maintaining the apartment property he and his wife live in plus a flop house on the other side of town. The first case (and lesson) comes in from the local animal rescue shelter where he is exposed to new forms of animal cruelty (US laws have made this a Federal felony). Next up are dishonest used car salesmen, nailing a crook that even the local mob finds disgraceful, and finally the flaws in a new tenant protection policy are brought out in court. Throughout there is lots of humor, dad jokes, and plenty of good deeds.
I'm glad that George Kuch continues to narrate this series and I am still amazed that he doesn't groan aloud at the puns and bad jokes! Of course I loved it!

Outstandingly entertaining
Lady Justice and the Landlords' Nightmare: Lady Justice, Book 40 is my fortieth enjoyable read/listen from author Robert Thornhill. Another entertaining clean read, filled with puns & one-liners, as always dealing with current social topics. Each book in the series seems better than the last as Thornhill continues to up his game. Narrator George Kuch again adds greatly to the listening enjoyment with his wide variety of entertaining voices & inflections, over the course of forty Audible books, Kuch IS Walt Williams! I’ll definitely be reading more from Thornhill! I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Eye-opening!
Robert Thornhill wrote a fantastic book in Lady Justice and the Landlord's Nightmare. The story pulled me in immediately. He does a fantastic job meshing several items into one encompassing novel. The characters are well developed and have dimension. George Kuch is fantastic bringing the characters to life. He adds the right emotions and has the perfect timing for the humor. As a pet lover, I was initially worried with the direction the book was going to take. So glad that Karma happens. The city legislation issues that many face are eye-opening. While the intentions are usually well meant, the consequences are far reaching. Thank you Robert for bringing this to the limelight.

Landlord Beware
Lady Justice and the Landlords' Nightmare
by Robert Thornhill
Update: 5-20-2020
Oh, my goodness!!! Walt and Kevin are out to bust a dog fighting ring, a loan shark that is pure evil, and to help landlords that are finding problems with a new law. They find themselves in some close calls. We get to see quick glimpses of the rest of the gang. Lady Justice is out there fighting, but which side will prevail? As Yogi Berra said "It ain't over till it's over!!!"
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. George Kuch never lets us down.

Laughs, suspense & lots of fun!
One of the best aspects of the Lady Justice series is that we (the reader) get to see the inner workings of court cases play out. We get to see all the behind the scenes aspects of how the case is formed and what both sides of the argument feel. These books also tackle real world issues, and in this installment it was all about tenant laws. As always there’s a cast of intriguing characters, lots of laughs, and some mystery and suspense sprinkled in. Hands down the lady justice series is my absolute favorite!
