About this listen
When high football star Max Bell falls victim to a hit-and-run, local reporter Ray Harper engages in an all-out pursuit for the driver who left him for dead in the middle of a busy suburban Detroit road. Harper investigates and makes a shocking discovery that connects the crime to a prominent suburban Detroit political figure.
When Harper's relentless reporting turns up the heat, how far will this ambitious mayor go to keep the truth hidden? Harper won't stop digging, not even if it could cost him his life. He must get the story at all costs, not only for himself but for Max.

This is a must read OUTSTANDING DEBUT!!!!
This book does not read like a debut novel, it resonates with the sound of a well seasoned author. This is a very well written , fast paced book. The characters are believable and the storyline is plausible.
When the protagonist (Ray Harper ) is present at a hit and run of a teen (Max Bell) he can help but doing what he does naturally. Ray is an investigative journalist in Plymouth. What he doesn’t realize at the time is that the driver is a powerful woman in town with connections in law enforcement. As the investigation gets stronger the bodies begin to fall. Including Ray’s boss and owner of the newspaper he works for. The ending is perfect. All threads are wrapped up with no cliffhangers or unanswered questions.
This story has so many good twists especially considering the identity of the hit and run driver is given to you at the very beginning of the book. Although it doesn’t say, I can only hope this is the beginning of a series.
The narrator Ron Allan Fauts is new to me as well. He does a fantastic job.
This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
