About this listen

Private Detective Jobe Carson and the love of his life Anne are enjoying a Vancouver Island whale-watching vacation when an assassin at a taco truck completely upends Jobe’s reality. Turns out what he thought were the mundane memories of his deceased father Maclynn’s 1948 army stint in Japan weren’t quite accurate. Nor were the crazy tales Maclynn had begun to tell in the years before he died. Jobe had thought they were the latter-day ravings of his dad’s dementia-ravaged mind. In truth, Maclynn actually did play a part in an international espionage escapade.
The story goes back and forth in time, from young Maclynn and post-WWII Japan Occupation forces to present day sleuthing by Jobe and his family members, as they try to solve the mystery of the hidden historical artifact modern terrorists plan to use to endanger the world. Spoiler alert: Those terrorists are out to kill Jobe and Anne first.
