About this listen

Ivor the Engine is set in the picturesque Welsh countryside, where Ivor, a small steam engine, works for The Merioneth and Llantisilly Railway Traction Company Limited. His driver, Jones the Steam, is his loyal companion, and together they deliver goods and navigate the charming Welsh valleys. Ivor, however, has a dream beyond hauling cargo: he wants to sing with the local choir.

Ivor, along with Jones the Steam, embarks on a mission to find more whistles so he can make different sounds and fulfil his dream of joining the choir. Their search takes them across the countryside, from Llangubbin to Grumbly Gasworks, meeting some wonderful characters along the way. The villagers help Ivor on his journey, determined to see him become part of the choir.

This audiobook tells the story, taken from the very first black-and-white TV series broadcast in the 1950s. Created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, this wonderful series remains a timeless favorite, remembered by generation after generation.
