About this listen
A breathtaking near-future thriller. From the New York Times best-selling author whose books have been downloaded over a million times.
When DARPA's billion-dollar program to create artificial superintelligence is sabotaged, US operative Cameron Carr is tasked with finding the culprit. He's been on high-stakes missions before, but this time the stakes are nothing less than the future of humanity. Because the race to evolve a superintelligent computer is on, and power players around the world will stop at nothing to get there first.
In the right hands, artificial superintelligence could lift humanity to towering heights. But in the wrong hands, this technology could represent the greatest threat humanity has ever seen....
Ripped from tomorrow's headlines, Infinity Born is a roller-coaster ride of a thriller that explores the deadly perils and mind-blowing possibilities that await the human race - including both extinction and immortality.
As our phones and computers become ever smarter, Infinity Born takes an unblinking look at a technological tipping point that is just around the corner. One that will have a profound impact on the future course of human history.

I only wish these technologies and the threats they pose were imagined. The fact that they are real is sobering. This does make for a really engaging story though!

I hated this book and then....
I almost dumped this after the first few chapters, and then it all started to come together. I'm glad I stayed to the end, the concepts are better than the writing. Definitely worth the investment and raises some questions about where technology is taking us. Gave me new things to fear lol. Grudgingly 5 stars here, the content is the saving grace.

Riley or wryly?
why use this word for a name when you use it so often? really detracts from the story. And at the end it got really preachy

Nice science, to much talking, superb epilogue
Interesting and attractive look at possible dark side of current technology development. There are several explanation parts that really slow down the story but once I accepted those stops it was ok. I really like the epilogue as a source for future study.

Great concepts, but the ending puttered out.
I believe the narrator failed to properly transition between actual narration and character voices. Effective use of pauses would have prevented blurring of lines. It seemed as though the author had difficulty wrapping up this novel. It felt as though it droned on at the end, however I was impressed by the conveyance of new technological concepts: ASI, vs. AGI, vs. AI and it appeared as though the author did do his homework. It was worth the use of a credit and I will be keeping the book, but I would suggest better narration. It is possible that the narrator may have puttered out at the end, along with the story.

Great ideas but something was missing
This is the first book I have listened to from this author. I really hated the book in the beginning. But as the story finally got moving, I enjoyed it a bit.
I really love good dialog, but unfortunately this book didn’t have that. It’s more about narrated exposition and discussing what’s going much more than I like.
Maybe it’s common in the genre but I was hoping by for better.

One Kind of Future
I have listened to this book at least a half-dozen times. The premise of the story is believable and the prospects of what could happen are frightening. There are many factual components that keep the story alive and the characters are as they should be.
As an author, I found the work to be well thought out and truly appreciate the effort that was taken by the author and would like to recommend this book to anyone who wishes to listen to or read a piece of work that makes you think long and hard about what you wish for.

Love it!
The story is really good and definitely not too fictional. Reminds me a lot of Daniel Suarez books. Just got a new favorite author:-).
