About this listen
Providence, Rhode Island, 2017. When doctoral student Cameron Coelho, 28, opens a package from Indiana, he finds more than private papers that will help him with his dissertation. He finds a photograph of a beautiful society editor murdered in 1925 and clues to a century-old mystery. Within days, he meets Geoffrey Bell, the "time-travel professor", and begins an unlikely journey through the Roaring Twenties. Filled with history, romance, and intrigue, Indiana Belle follows a lonely soul on the adventure of a lifetime as he searches for love and answers in the age of Prohibition, flappers, and jazz.

A charming, romantic debut novel in which Jane Austen, heralded author, ends up time-traveling almost 200 years in the future. There she finds the love she's written about and the destiny she's dreamed of...but is it worth her legacy? Bath, England, 1803. At 28, Jane Austen prefers walking and reading to balls and assemblies; she dreams of someday publishing her carefully crafted stories. Captured in space. Imprisoned. Sold to the highest bidder. But my biggest problem is the bossy, aggravating, impossible, alien who’s supposed to rescue me. The bossy alien I kissed. That might have been a mistake. Kadir is dangerous. I’ve seen him fight and his body is littered with scars. He’s a soldier. A warrior. Entertaining Time Travel and Historical Fiction
Any additional comments?
I really enjoy John Heldt's novels and this one was no different. This book is interesting and kept my attention.I appreciate the fact that I am also learning a bit of history through his story's and in this novel Cameron Coelho was transported to the 1920's in Evansville, Illinois. Well written. The narrator is great. I would absolutely recommend this book!

A disappointment...
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It contained a lot of bad writing cliches and lacked character development.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
It was wrapped up a tad too neatly and quickly. Everyone knows time travel has repercussions. This story had very few.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Chaz Allen?
Honestly, anyone else. This narrator pronounced words wrong and used the wrong inflections over and over again. His voicing of Candice Belle was sort of ridiculous.
Did Indiana Belle inspire you to do anything?
Read another book about the early 20th century.
Any additional comments?
I wanted to like this book - it just wasnt very good.

Good Story !
I received this book free as a promotional item. Of course I would not listen to it all if I didn’t enjoy it. I hate wasting time on a book that took a couple of hours of my life. This one I can say I listened to all the way.
There are 4 kinds of Time Travel Stories. The science fiction kind with a lot of jargon talk of space time continuum and “It will be the end of the universe unless we stop it.” Then there is the romantic “I’m going to go back to ancient Scotland to meet a ‘real’ man and marry him”. And there is the fun ‘Back to the Future’ adventures. Then there are, what I call, ‘Cozy Time Travel’ Stories. Where the writer takes you back to a warm, cozy time, when life was simple. These stories are fun if they add some good old fashion conflict to them, while still making you feel good and enjoy the journey. That’s what John Heldt does with Indiana Bell: American Journey Book 3.
One thing to keep your audience turning the pages is to have a dilemma. This story does that, along with a twist ending I didn’t see coming.

Time travel and Murder...
What I liked about the book?
I haven’t read much historical fiction and I’m not the biggest fan of time travel stories, but this book caught my interest and helped to open my mind up a bit more in this regard. It melded time travel and murder in the 20s. Very intriguing. It flowed very well between the time periods (2017 to 1925) and didn’t seem at all clunky as some tales of time travel do.
Despite the fact that this book is the third in a series, I could easily follow what was helping and where the author was taking me.
Furthermore, Chaz Allen, the narrator, really brought the story to life. He was the perfect choices in bring the story to audio.
What I didn’t like?
The wrap-up, which I will not give away, seemed much to clean for a story centered on travel. I expected a lot more consequence for a journey so far into the past.
Overall
Indiana Belle isn’t perfect but if you’re looking for a spooky and mysterious story this Halloween or at any time of the year, I would recommend it.
John A. Heldt's work is definitely lit :)

Another Good Time Travel Book
I got this ARC via audioook boom and this is my voluntary review. This is the third book in the G. Bell time travel journey. I read them out of order but still got a lot of entertainment from each book. The narrator was good and kept the story going. There were several plot twists and one that I did not expect but enjoyed. If you like cozy time travel books this series is worth listening to.

Another Hit
I was given an audio code by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
These time travel romance stories continue to entertain. I enjoy them more and more with each story. And without giving too much away, because I really don’t like making reviews with spoilers, I will say this one left me with an overall feeling of “finally!“
As for the narrator, I truly wonder if he realizes how often he starts his sentences with the word “well.” I can’t imagine that it’s actually in the text of the novel as often as he says it. Putting that aside, his narration is well done.

Indiana Belle

The listener gets to time travel back to the 1920's where a possible murder, conspiracy, a bit of romance all come together to keep us entertained.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Chaz Allen's voice is very pleasant.
