About this listen
One of the few white kids in a rural Kentucky town, Logan Whyte always kept to his own kind out of self-preservation. He never considered himself racist, but that didn't stop him from falling in with the wrong crowd--one that celebrated hate as much as he fought it--or from ending up in prison for eight years on an armed-robbery charge.
A successful, educated black woman, Katie Andreassen was tired of being accused of betraying her own race. Her lonely isolation, coupled with her grief over losing her mother, inspire her to create a new pen pal program at Capshaw State Penitentiary, where her father is a warden.
The program brings the unlikely pair together, but Logan and Katie soon find themselves forced to overcome past fears and prejudices. Their friendship doesn't come easily, especially when threatened by a crooked lawyer with a grudge and a best friend who betrays her promise to help.
When faced with a world that forces them apart, Logan and Katie must show everyone else what they have discovered: that love is, in fact, colorblind.

Story
Since aging out of the foster care system and becoming a nurse, all I dreamed of was marrying a nice doctor and moving to a two-story house in the suburbs. So how did a dangerous biker gang criminal end up handcuffed to my bed? And why did I agree to let that animal teach me how to...ahem...do things. Wicked things. In the very same bed he’s been handcuffed to in order to keep me safe? Long story. And I’m truly scared to find out how it will end.

Aphrodite Du Bell has always resented her name. While the members of the ton, and even the queen herself, praise her warm brown skin, perfect curls, and exquisite features, Aphrodite can’t help but think that living up to the literal goddess of beauty is asking a bit much. Her renowned loveliness certainly didn’t stop the love of her life from jilting her and marrying another woman four years ago.

Awesome!!!
This was the first time I listened to a book by Inger Iversen and I could not stop listening. This was an awesome book all the characters made it good and my heart went out to Logan. I can't wait to start book 2 of this series. I really like how Katelyn was raised by a non black step father and how he remained in her life even after her mother passed. Teal kind of got on my nerve, but I like Trent and Logan interaction and can't wait to learn more about Trent in the next book.

Happily Ever After? Maybe...
Would you listen to Incarcerated again? Why?
Yeah, it was good.
What did you like best about this story?
I like that that the author kept it real and didn't gloss over the issues in an interracial relatioship. I can't wait to listen to the next book with Teal and Trent.
Which character – as performed by Olivia Peppersmith – was your favorite?
Teal, she sounded a bit country and didn't take any mess.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Logan and Katie's agrueement after the airport! Sexy!

Fantastic!
If you could sum up Incarcerated in three words, what would they be?
Romantic, funny and passionate
What other book might you compare Incarcerated to and why?
I don't know, but I loved the characters and can't wait to read more about them. Katie is sweet and funny and Logan is strong and smart.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I did listen to it in one sitting. I loved the characters and I loved that thebook didn't have a fairy tale ending, just a HFN kind of ending. The ending was complete and realistic.

Great book! awesome read!
I loved this book and thought it was well written. Dealing with race issues in any book is diffiuclt but I love the way it's written without offending.
Through the book you can see how both Katie and Logan grow and learn to let go of the past. For Katie it was not allowing her friends and family to continue treating her like a child and for Logan it was getting past his race issues.
I do think that on occasions teal and Katie's father go a little to far on trying to protect her. And although they might have been trying to look out for her interfering with a grown woman's life was not the way to do it. I thought more than once teal was a home wrecking hooker and that she was trying to be Katie's mother and not her best friend. Although at the end teal started acting like a best friend should and I don't hate her as much.
And I'm glad that by the end of the boom you can see the changes that everyone was making for the better and I loved it because shows that no matter what you went through I life you can always come out on top.

Interesting turn of events. May not be everyone's
Would you consider the audio edition of Incarcerated to be better than the print version?
Haven't read more than the audiobook version
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
That characters really thought they could meet through the phone and not know the other character was a different race.
Which character – as performed by Olivia Peppersmith – was your favorite?
Hmmm...I hated the character Logan, but she did voice him really well.

Just So So
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
There are many other books I'd recommend before this one. It seemed a bit mellow dramatic at times. The ending seemed a bit abrupt based on how their relationship was progressing.
Would you be willing to try another book from Inger Iversen? Why or why not?
Probably. I liked her Inger's writing style
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator was ok. She was a somewhat monotone in her delivery and I didn't find her particularly engaging.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Unlikely.

True love conquers the most basic differences
Can a good, law-abiding young woman find true love with a convicted criminal? Can an African-American woman find true love with a white man raised with racist tendencies? Yes, and yes. But could this reader/listener be persuaded by some of the ricocheting swings of emotion and insta-love/lust delivered in Incarcerated or seriously relate to a woman who finished off a bottle and a half of wine on her own because it was. . . . snowing? Not quite so much. Nor, as the mother of women in their twenties, could I possibly buy into the level of control supposedly exerted by a parent over the FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT protagonist. So . . . good and bad. On the one hand, bravo. Love passionately conquered all, and I wish the fictional lovers a long and happy life together. On the other hand, really? But the author knows how to put sentences together skillfully and the narration was excellent.
