Scholarship student Thracius "Tracy" Belmanor and Princess Mercedes de Arango have graduated from the High Ground and become officers in the Orden de la Estrella. Stung by Mercedes' choice of Beauregard “Boho” Cullen as her consort, Tracy is glad they are posted on battleships light years apart but soon finds that without her protection, he is nothing but a target.
Meanwhile, Mercedes' posting has its own challenges, not least her unfaithful husband.

Excellent Second Book of Series
This book starts at graduation from the High Ground Academy. The story examines the moral ambiguity of allowing a mass murder of children to be "ignored" in the interest of preventing an inter-species war. Mercedes is slowly losing her soul as she grows into the role of Le Infanta and Tracy, stubborn and priggish, suffers dearly for his principles. The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger promising much more to come. Can hardly wait.

What a great series!
Both books have been incredible. Couldn’t stop listening to this one. Finished it in two days. Can’t wait to keep going!!

The complex characters shine with brilliance & Reality
This second journey into this complex and interesting universe was a very satisfying listen. The characters evolve nice and not necessarily how you might guess they will. Deep ties are discovered and mystery develop. Very much looking forward to the third installment of this wonderful series.

i am reeling from the amount of meaning content was packed w/o the lingering emotion. the maturity of writing style. woops, the next book is starting, gotta go
