About this listen
I never believed in UFOs—until I found one in my backyard…
Alex is just a normal guy who works at a computer repair shop and dreams away his life. That is, until one day, he literally stumbles across a hidden spaceship.
Together with his best friends, Joey and Lucy, he explores the vessel. They find the pilot dead, but the sentient ship AI is very much alive—and she needs their help.
The friends decide to embark on an adventure into the unknown.
Soon, they find themselves on a crazy ride through space, facing aliens, pirates, smugglers, and humorless space authorities…
Will Alex and his friends find their way home? And do they even want to?

Glory barely survived its last battle twenty years ago. Captain Drake resigned rather than face court martial. But the enemy is back, and humanity needs everything that can fly. Maybe it’s not the ship at all but the crew. They hold the key. Drake rallies old and young alike to comply with orders so secret even he wasn’t allowed to see them until after the ship left the junkyard. Would it leave? That was another question. A planet in the endless emptiness of space, far from the warmth of any sun. And yet there are people who populate its vast caverns, living, working and loving. Since time immemorial, they have been on course for Andromeda, the neighboring galaxy of the Milky Way. This is the prophecy of the ancients, the one goal that unites them all, their cult. On humanity's first extra-solar mission, the exploration vessel Magellan, or, as she prefers, "Maggie", discovers an alien artifact. Deciding that finding advanced alien life is too important to ignore, Captain Allison Ridgeway chooses to return to Earth while ordering her crew to reverse engineer technology far beyond anything back home. Meanwhile, at mission control, the governments struggle to maintain the existence of aliens a secret while also combating bureaucracy, the military industrial complex, and everyone else who wants a piece of what could skyrocket humanity into a new technological age.

The galaxy was once terrorized by the Sturm, a group of “species purists” intent on destroying any human with genetic or cybernetic enhancements. Fashioning themselves as the one true “Human Republic,” the Sturm cut a bloody swath across the stars, killing billions before finally being defeated and driven into the far reaches of Dark Space. Centuries of peace bred complacency. Everyone believed the Sturm had died out in the Dark. They were wrong.

Performance:
As advertised... Virtual Voice... zero personality, zero emotion, zero texture, zero richness.... I hope this is not a new trend in Audible... Not exactly droning out... but it is boring to listen to... and the way it pronounces certain words (bad-asses???) is ridiculous... NEVER AGAIN choosing a audiobook "performed" by software.
Reading something is not the same as Narrating it or Performing it.
Story:
Started as a cheap rip-off of Roadkill... developed quite quickly into a senseless plot... no build-ups. Just things happening without explanation as to how...
The characters have no brains, no planning ahead skills, no sense of self-preservation nor curiosity... Will they ever ask relevant questions? Will they even think a little before just jumping in to whatever situation?
i.e. They find a body; don't ask any questions about it; decide to just pick it up and bury it in the woods; and next thing you hear is that somebody sits in the same seat they found it, without giving a second thought or push for real answers? Seriously??!!
I have not dislike an audiobook so much in quite a long time.
Never thought that I would get tired and bored of listening to the word "ADVENTURE"
Not sure if a human narrator would have made any difference in my opinion about this book. I probably may have finished listening to the whole thing... who knows.
I apologize for the harsh review but this is not a title I would recommend to anybody.
I'm sorry.... but NO
