About this listen
Convinced he has nothing left to live for, 54-year-old Steve Kranowicz treks into the New Hampshire woods with a handgun and bottle of vodka. After pulling the trigger, he’s visited by an omniscient representative of God, a Crow who offers Steve a new life in the time and conditions of his choosing. That choice is easy: going back to 1985 so he can try again with his high-school sweetheart Darcee French, a relationship that failed due to his youthful insecurities.
Steve returns as a 16-year-old in 1985 with everything he requested: the house next-door to the Frenches, all to himself; the car of his dreams; millions in cash; even the extra height he always wanted. But his teenage body retains a 54-year old’s cynical weariness, and his new life throws constant curves. Does Steve now have the resources and wisdom to be happy, or is it as futile as before? Can you ever really go home again, even when you’re delivered to its doorstep?

The book version of actually traveling through time
Wow - I loved this novel so much! Something about the way Josh Criss crafts this story makes you really feel like you are the main character. I know that’s usually the case with well-written fiction, but somehow, eerily, this book takes that to the next level. From the 1st page to the last (I just finished this book minutes ago and HAD to give it a review!) I’ve been imagining my own version of the journey Steve (the main character) went on. Somehow, there were two stories running simultaneously - his, and mine as I imaged what things I would ask for, what I would do. I’m trying to write this with no spoilers. I think anyone would love this book, but if you have any memory of the latter part of the 20th Century, “I Abandon This Life” will completely mesmerize you. I devoured the entire book in a few days, am a little bummed it’s over, but feel like it’s given me a whole new way to fantasize. Hope you all love it as much as I did.

Abandon
Great book it's very well done and very enjoyable. The main character feels his life is overwhelmed and decides to take his own life as he feels he's no longer got purpose in life. Overall excellent book to listen to.
