About this listen
A “must-read” (The Washington Post) funny and practical guide to help you find, build, and keep the relationship of your dreams.
Have you ever looked around and wondered, “Why has everyone found love except me?” You’re not the only one. Great relationships don’t just appear in our lives - they’re the culmination of a series of decisions, including whom to date, how to end it with the wrong person, and when to commit to the right one. But our brains often get in the way. We make poor decisions, which thwart us on our quest to find lasting love.
Drawing from years of research, behavioral scientist turned dating coach Logan Ury reveals the hidden forces that cause those mistakes. But awareness on its own doesn’t lead to results. You have to actually change your behavior. Ury shows you how.
This “simple-to-use guide” (Lori Gottlieb, New York Times bestselling author of Maybe You Should Talk to Someone) focuses on a different decision in each chapter, incorporating insights from behavioral science, original research, and real-life stories. You’ll learn:
- What’s holding you back in dating (and how to break the pattern)
- What really matters in a long-term partner (and what really doesn’t)
- How to overcome the perils of online dating (and make the apps work for you)
- How to meet more people in real life (while doing activities you love)
- How to make dates fun again (so they stop feeling like job interviews)
- Why “the spark” is a myth (but you’ll find love anyway)
This “data-driven” (Time), step-by-step guide to relationships, complete with hands-on exercises, is designed to transform your life. How to Not Die Alone will help you find, build, and keep the relationship of your dreams.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Suddenly finding herself 40 and single, Lori Gottlieb said the unthinkable in her March 2008 article in The Atlantic: Maybe she, and single women everywhere, needed to stop chasing the elusive Prince Charming and instead go for Mr. Good Enough. Looking at her friends' happy marriages to good enough guys who happen to be excellent husbands and fathers, Gottlieb declared it time to reevaluate what we really need in a partner. By looking at everything from culture to biology, in Marry Him, Gottlieb frankly explores the dilemma that so many women today seem to face.

Story
As David Brooks observes, “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family, school, community organization, or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make them feel seen—to accurately know another person, to let them feel valued, heard, and understood.” And yet we humans don’t do this well. All around us are people who feel invisible, unseen, misunderstood. In How to Know a Person, Brooks sets out to help us do better, posing questions that are essential for all of us: If you want to know a person, what kind of attention should you cast on them?

Drawing on the Buddhist concept of mindfulness, How to Be an Adult in Relationships explores five hallmarks of mindful loving and how they play a key role in our relationships throughout life.

Instead of presenting love as an ethereal concept or a collection of cliches, Jay Shetty lays out specific, actionable steps to help you develop the skills to practice and nurture love better than ever before. He shares insights on how to win or lose together, how to define love, and why you don’t break in a break-up. Inspired by Vedic wisdom and modern science, he tackles the entire relationship cycle, from first dates to moving in together to breaking up and starting over. And he shows us how to avoid falling for false promises and unfulfilling partners.

It would be easy to write a feminist polemic denouncing men. This is not that book. Something is definitely up with men. From millions who follow Jordan Peterson to the #MeToo backlash, from men's rights activists and incels to spiralling suicide rates, it's easy to see that, while men still rule the world, masculinity is in crisis.

How often do you interrupt? How often do people interrupt you? Can you remember the last time someone listened to you all the way through your thinking? In her new book, Nancy Kline, best-selling author of Time to Think, makes this radical proposal: 'I won't interrupt you' is a promise that changes everything. It deepens relationships, spawns dignity, raises the intelligence of groups and enriches every conversation. It may, in fact, be the most important promise we ever make. And the hardest to keep.

Based one of the largest studies of human mating ever undertaken, encompassing more than 10,000 people of all ages from 37 cultures worldwide, The Evolution of Desire is the first work to present a unified theory of human mating behavior.

A must read for daters!
Logan Ury nails the cause of my singleness, ME! I am so grateful for this realistic view of how to approach dating with a compassionate and proactive way to find love. It worked! Now I have attracted quality men and am taking my time to get to know them and evolve my own bad habits. Thank you Logan and F$&@K the Spark!

Life changing.
Logan provides simple yet profound insights into our thought patterns, behavioral pitfalls, blind spots, and the unnecessary/unhelpful things we tend to prioritize. Applicable for people who are single, dating, in a relationship, married, or coming out of a relationship—there is something in here for you. Fairly inclusive of different identities, as a cis queer woman I didn’t feel excluded. If you only read one relationship book give yourself the gift of it being this one.

I re-learned how to date!
This book (especially the first 2/3’s) helped me understand why I was always falling for the beautiful ‘prom date’ and why those didn’t result in long-term meaningful relationships. This book helped me identify what I was actually looking for and used science/data to back it up. Thank you Logan! I no longer think I’m going to die alone :)

Although cheesy sounding
This book took me by surprise. At first glance it’s just a self help dating book and yes that exists. BUT. The ending chapters are honestly so crucial. Relationships are not magically created. They take real work. And there is some great ideas for approaching this growth in this book. This is a book I did not think I needed to listen to. But man it’s good

Men get a 70% boost in dating when in profile pics they are standing alone smiling w. No teeth and looking straight into the camera.
Black and white pics are a total plus for both
