About this listen
Have you ever tried to build a haunted house?
Best-selling author Travis Brown returns with a new collection taking listeners on a journey into dark rooms filled with the creepy, weird, and unexplained.
The sundown is tinted green, a wind blows in from the west, and the walls between our world and all others grow thin enough to slip through. Invisible nightmares walk among us, some more dangerous than others. Make sure when that happens, you’re somewhere secret and safe….

Story
It’s the house of their dreams. Former marine Harry and his wife, Sasha, have packed up their life and their golden retriever, Dash, and fled the corporate rat race to live off the land in rural Idaho. Their breathtaking new home sits on more than forty acres of meadow, aspen trees, and pine forest in the Teton Valley. Even if their friends and family think it’s a strange choice for an up-and-coming pair of urban professionals, Harry and Sasha couldn’t be happier about the future they’re building, all by their lonesome.

Four brand-new horror novellas all about books, stories, manuscripts—the written word has never had sharper teeth. In The Skin of Her Teeth, a cursed novel drives people to their deaths. A delivery job turns deadly in The Dark Brothers' Last Ride. In This Book Belongs to Olo, a lonely child has dangerous control over an usual pop-up book. A choose-your-own adventure game spirals into an uncanny reality in The Story. Full of creepy suspense, these collected novellas are perfect for fans of Paul Tremblay, Stephen King, and Joe Hill.

One of my favorite collections
Travis Brown has quickly become one of my favorite horror authors. I read this and the House with 100 Rooms back to back and I am amazed at how deep and scary some of this horror hits. I love the little threads he weaves between some of the stories, and the evocative, dream-like images he creates. My one piece of feedback is I think the characters could have more depth to them - some stories do that better than others - but overall I'll be revisiting this book again in the future. Also the narration was amazing! Love hearing these stories through the voice of our weather narrator. Reminds of the narration in The Fisherman.
