An un-obnoxious, fun, and sightful analysis on horror movies
i loved listening to this book from start to finish. Hughes perfectly summarizes and details modern horror classics for those of us too shy to sit terrified in a movie theater or dark living room, listing the beats to pay attention to, things you might have missed if you did watch a movie (only the once and never again, it's my nerves, you see) or haven't and have to intention to.
This isn't a bunch of Wikipedia synopsis, nor an arthouse-y film major take on the genre, but an accessible, smart, funny, and insightful breakdown about why these movies matter, and why these specific movies. Hughes also adds book recommendations for each one, enjoyable for those that think they'd find the movie in question too scary (weenie) or want to find more like it (weenie who was brave once). Definitely a travel read, especially as Halloween approaches.
