About this listen

Things are out of control for the Sinclair boys! With two already in the NHL, Jace Sinclair is ready to follow in his brothers' huge skates in the last Bellevue Bullies novel.

Jace Sinclair here, and I'm amazing. There is no other way to describe me. I am the leading scorer for the Bellevue Bullies, I'm the captain, and people love me: my family, my teammates, my coach, and the NHL. This is my last year in college - I already have one foot in the draft. Hockey keeps me warm even when it's freezing. It's always there when nothing else is. And it pushes me to be the best I can be. It's my one and only love.

That is, until I see her against a tree with a guitar. Avery. The last thing I wanted was to meet anyone. My heart is on the bench because of what happened with my parents, and I don't want that for myself. I don't want to be hurt by anyone. I can't give them that power. But my heart is begging for ice time, and I can't control it around her.

I've always been in the background. No one has ever had time for me, and that's fine; I've learned to cope. Coming from a family where hockey is life, the last thing I want is some big, burly hockey player charging at me. I don't have time for it, but Jace Sinclair isn't one to be deked around.

I didn't want to meet anyone. I didn't want to end up freezing the puck with him. It's not what I want. I have demons. I have issues. Living in the shadows, no one even knew until it was too late. But Jace wants to know. He wants me. And that scares me the living hell out of me.

We were so worried about what would happen if we fell, but we never thought what could happen in the process of falling. We never saw it coming. But it's here, and the repercussions are not pretty. We should have known that there is no way out of the zone when you are being hooked by love.

Again I wished I had listen to these in the order they were written, it would have made the story lines match up a lot better.

Over all I enjoyed this book, Jace and Avery overcome a lot in this book and there struggle is real. I forgot how young Jace is because he is so wise.

Don’t get me wrong this story worked but know what I know about Marcus and all that before this book it was again wishing I had listen before that book. So yeah I am glad I finished this series.

I won’t be listing to the other series because the narration is a deal breaker for me.

The narration on this book was fantastic I am a huge fan of both these narrators.

I absolutely loved this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention the entire time. I loved getting to know Jace better and seeing him working out his priorities. He is the baby of the family and is very close to all his family and gets a lot of teasing from his brothers and sisters. He looks up to his brothers and is trying to figure out how to balance himself between them to a point. He is wanting to be a player and not have a relationship this year and be more like his brother Jude before Claire. That definitely hits a wall real fast when he hears Avery singing and is very drawn to her. He falls just like his two brothers, pretty much instantly. He knew Avery was different and was putting in the work early on. There connection was intense and Avery wasn't looking for that either. She was looking for a little bit of fun and nothing serious so that she could start over and follow her dreams. She has felt overlooked by her family and never important. Her family is real big on hockey and that always took priority and she was just an afterthought. Avery is dealing with a lot and trying to overcome in order to succeed and follow her dreams. She doesn't want to make the same mistake again and is worried about losing herself to Jace and where that could send her mentally again. This book deals with some tough topics of anxiety, depression, cutting and suicide attempt. I thought it was all handled very well and genuine. This book is on the longer side, which I loved, and it really allows for the depth of the story and the characters to grow and deal with this. I love who Jace was with Avery and how he handled so much of it. He was all in and he fell first and knew it. He wanted to make things work with Avery and was willing to show her he was going to stick around and that she was a priority and her dreams were a priority for them both. He had good examples with his brothers and knew that a relationship didn't negate following your dreams. Jace had to figure out how to pursue and fight for Avery without scaring her away. I loved how he became her biggest fan. This story was cute and I really did enjoy seeing things play out between them two of them as they dealt with and overcame the obstacles in front of them. The story was well written and very engaging. I really fell in love with Jace and Avery and loved seeing bits and pieces of the other Sinclair's. This story had plenty going on and I am excited to see the next book in the series!
The narrators did a great job with this story and bringing it to life along with the characters. It was easy to listen to and you could really hear the emotion and action in the voices throughout the entire story.

Absolutely loved it!

I REALLY did not enjoy Clipped by Love, which was Book 2 of this series. HOWEVER, I have loved every other Toni Aleo book. So, I wasn't going to let that one experience ruin my love of fictitious Nashville hockey. I am SO GLAD that I didn't give up! I REALLY enjoyed Hooked by Love. The characters were extremely well developed, and every chapter and twist/turn that that characters took added to their story as opposed to merely stretch it out. The narrators, again, did a fantastic job. Definitely worth the credit!!

I have over 500 audiobooks. Yes I got a badge for that. I love hockey. Played goalie for a girls floor hockey team. So if I get a chance to listen to one I go for it.
However not all books are created equal. You have a great story & ear bleeding reading. At times you get the Sebastian York reading a book I say book because there isn't my story in it.
I have Toni Aledo & Sawyer Bennett's books. I love them. So why am I giving this book her only hockey book a review? Well first I don't usually do reviews. That book has to reach down deep and grab my soul. Second I guess it's time for someone to remind her that dedicated fans will listen even if they loose that magic of the first 3. Then they get inspired and write a blow me away book again.
This story would have 5 to 14 stars if it wasn't for all the same phrase she used. "Sliding our noses" is extremely old. It's in all her hockey books. Man it really just bugged me. A perfect story wreck by all the same phases in all her books.
I grew up if you don't have anything nice to say don't do it. These writers have feelings & it takes nerves of steel to put yourself out there.
So all I really need to say & I hope the author hears this and comes up with new parts of kissing other than their noses sliding. I will buy the next book in the series. If the phrases haven't changed, I will sadly give up. That is how much it bugs me. Toni's hockey books are great as is her book called Civilized man. Lord above that book was fantastic.

Jace and Avery's story is awesome. It's my favorite out of the three Bellevue Series! they had the biggest endevour to face, still bummed with Clipped by love. I didn't like Balor's character. She made Jayden worked too hard and still working hard now supporting in NHL

awesome

So many warm fuzzies and angsty feels! Every woman needs a H like Jace; persistent, loyal, committed, puts your needs first, and man's up for you! After he grows up a bit 😂 Really enjoyed this. h's family... 🤬
Warning for bullying, depression, trauma, self harm and attempted suicide.

HOOKED BY LOVE
● Jace (19) & Avery (similar age)
● both in college
● Jace plays hockey
● Avery wants to be a singer/songwriter
● both have toxic family members (her twin brother and his dad)

It's probably a product of its time but this book (written 10 years ago) was way too long.
