About this listen
Under the protection of Nergal the Radiant, the Alliance's armies march confidently toward Tiamat's temple. Scyth's old tricks are no longer working. The Legate of the Destroying Plague and his friends have a difficult choice to make: bow to the wishes of the Snowstorm corporation and complete the quest of the Nucleus, surrender to the preventers, or retreat in the battle for Tiamat's temple to win the war?
One thing is sure: They're going to need allies. And sometimes, old enemies can make the best friends.

Story
At 30 years old, Phil is an unemployed gamer who struggles to make ends meet. His only source of income is freelance writing (when he feels inspired enough to add another article to his less-than-popular blog). His wife has just walked out on him, leaving him without money, purpose, or food in the fridge. On the day his wife dumps him, Phil receives a mysterious piece of wetware. A game interface seems to have been implanted in his brain, which allows him to see the world through the eyes of an RPG player. Now that Phil discovers his real-life stats, he can see they're below average.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

You see alot coming.
While this is another good installment quite a bit can be gleamed from the last book though. By the end of the book i was hoping I was wrong but the obvious back-stab happened. Depending on the next book this one could be written up in a quick summary to bridge the next one. As far as main points go at least theres a few side nuggets here and there but ultimately no real surprises in this one.

Excellent extension for the story
Too often I feel like authors will go overboard in knocking down their protagonist. Alex needed to be knocked down, but the way that this book did it was well done. especially since it didn't just nerf the main character. I've enjoyed these books thoroughly and this one is no different. Couldn't put it down.
Slight word of warning for somebody who is thinking of picking this book up first. Don't do it. start at the beginning. It isn't a stand-alone book. You will be lost if you don't start with book one.

mostly good with some rough edges
the story on the whole is great but without spoiling too much some of the world and game mechanics really strain the suspension of disbelief, this one in particular brought those up alot.

Most of the story was a waste
Most of this story was just big filler, that did absolutely nothing. It finally got to the end, right where something happened. But you can skip several chapters where absolutely nothing happens
