About this listen

One night. One contract. One kiss, and Victor Newcomb will never be the same.

By age 24, Vic has accomplished more than most men achieve in a lifetime. Since childhood he's tried to be the perfect son, the perfect executive, the perfect heir - and as next in line for the throne of his father's multibillion dollar textile empire, he's made his life entirely about discipline and control.

But he doesn't know what discipline truly means - until he meets Amani Idrissi.

University student. Part-time masseuse. Cello virtuoso. The serene, reserved Moroccan American femme fascinates Vic with his cool allure, changing everything Vic thought he knew about power, about control, about his own sexuality. Yet when cello lessons turn into a business deal of an entirely different nature, Vic quickly realizes he'll pay anything for the chance to see Amani again. To submit to his touch.

To discover the complete and utter freedom in giving up control.

But the deeper Vic falls headlong into love, the more he realizes he doesn't know Amani at all. Secretive, withdrawn, Amani seems determined to keep their relationship strictly business.

Contains mature themes.

First, Joel Leslie did an amazing job.
Second, while I loved the first book, His Cocky Valet, I feel the BDSM relationship was handled better in this one.
I loved the growth of the main characters and the happy ending felt earned rather than it ending happily just because.

Really great

I enjoyed listening to this story very much. Different from a lot of Dom/sub books I have read in the past. Enjoyed how the BDSM part was so sweet. Not so much bowing down and the no eye contact. How Vic was still in control in and out of the bedroom. Kind of a soft Dom and I like this way a lot too.

This is the first book with the Dom was a bottom. Loved it.

This is the absolute best series I’ve read/listened to this year. Amazing. Narration is fantastic too!

Good story but it felt like it needed more 'something' ... i'm not really sure what, There wasn't really a lot of depth to it and I didn't really connect with the characters. (I enjoyed Book 1 - His Cocky Valet much more.)

Joel Leslie did his usual outstanding performance. I really enjoy these types of narrations where each characters voice is different to the general narrator dialog. It makes it really easy to listen too while i'm doing something else without losing track of the story.

liked it

Amani and Victor’s story is a sensual journey. Cole McCade writes so well I could feel the emotions as if I was experiencing them. Joel Leslie brings those emotions to life with his voice and leaves you submerged in a maelstrom of sensuality and emotional warmth. I fell in love with both Amani and Vic. They’re two imperfect people whose rough edges meet and smooth into a perfect puzzle. Amani shows Vic how to let go of the pressures he’s under daily, and Vic shows Amani how to trust. I think what I loved most was McCade didn’t write an angsty story about two people of different race finding love. Instead he wrote a story that showed the utter beauty in their differences, but focused simply on two people falling in love. I loved this story.

I rarely come into a new author (new in my experience of them), and love their writing style/sensitivity/etc so much. Very solidly done; thank you for including non-White characters in this series, and for doing it well.

strong characters, skilled author

So Good. I liked the 1st book in the series but this book just hit differently. the development of the BDSM was done so nicely. These 2 were so delicious together and Joel Leslie is just utterly Fantastic! I have a few favorites but he is my #1.

I really enjoyed this story because this couple had to overcome many of their own personal issues to make their relationship work. I also liked the dynamic of the femme man being the dominant in this relationship.
As always, Joel Leslie is a wonderful narrator and makes the story more emotional with his telling.

Sensitive to racial/religious differences

I finished this audiobook this morning and LOVED the writing, the story, and the narration. This is one of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to in over a year. I already miss Vic and especially Amani. It was so wonderful to encounter a character like Amani, when so often gender fluidity/non-conformity is ignored or swept into more “standard” umbrellas. I loved this book. I highly recommend it.

As usual Joel Leslie was OUTSTANDING. His performance, especially Amani, was stellar. His accents are wonderful and consistent and he flows between characters without ever blurring their lines. Joel, you are a gift!

Outstanding Story and Narration!
