About this listen
From the award-winning author of Catching the Wind, which Publishers Weekly called “unforgettable", comes another gripping time-slip novel about hidden treasure, a castle, and ordinary people who resisted evil in their own extraordinary way.
The year is 1938, and as Hitler’s troops sweep into Vienna, Austrian Max Dornbach promises to help his Jewish friends hide their most valuable possessions from the Nazis, smuggling them to his family’s summer estate near the picturesque village of Hallstatt. He enlists the help of Annika Knopf, his childhood friend and the caretaker’s daughter, who is eager to help the man she’s loved her entire life. But when Max also brings Luzia Weiss, a young Jewish woman, to hide at the castle, it complicates Annika’s feelings and puts their entire plan - even their very lives - in jeopardy. Especially when the Nazis come to scour the estate and find both Luzia and the treasure gone.
Eighty years later, Callie Randall is mostly content with her quiet life, running a bookstore with her sister and reaching out into the world through her blog. Then she finds a cryptic list in an old edition of Bambi that connects her to Annika’s story...and maybe to the long-buried story of a dear friend. As she digs into the past, Callie must risk venturing outside the safe world she’s built for a chance at answers, adventure, and maybe even new love.

Story
Moving home after a recent job loss was supposed to reassure Camden Bristow and give her time to decide what to do next. But when she arrives in Etherton, Ohio, she discovers that her grandmother, who she hasn't talked to in years, has passed away and “home” is an empty mansion, 150 years old — not exactly the comfort Camden was looking for.

Hidden Among The Stars is a hidden treasure!
This book made me want to drive further so I could continue listening. I loved the characters and suspense wanting to know how it would end but never wanting it to be over. Sad facts but wonderfully written and performed. Very entertaining and thought provoking.

Oh my! What an amazing story.
So real. Real people that seemed to leap from the page. I’ll be trying more from this author and narrator.

Not my favorite WWII fiction, but had good moments
This book was predictable, and yet unpredictable all at once. I appreciated the slight sense of an unanswered story, as so many people’s lives were left unfinished and unanswered.
I could’ve gone with a little more character development between the Callie and her “love” interest...some more description of how she became attracted to him could help.
Also- just in case it matters to you: there is a Christian tone to the books, which I didn’t know in advance.

Nicely written
Nice back and forth story line that doesn’t leave you confused as heck. Well written with not a lot of fluff.
The narrator is very good with great inflection.
I would recommend as a quick read.

couldn't put it down
I love this book. it gave a glimpse of life when the Keys were persecuted! it was tough to listen to at time because of the horrible things that happened. but the story line wove everything together in a beautiful tapestry in this story! I could listen to it again, easily it was that good!

Beautiful story, interesting, Christian references are carefully done. Personally, I did not feel it was too preachy. Really liked it. Well done.

Loved it!
I don't write a lot of reviews but I wanted to share how much I enjoyed this book. If you like historical fiction, mixed with intrigue and romance, this is a perfect blend. It also brings to light one of the worst periods in human history - not an entertaining part but one worth covering so that we can understand a tiny bit of the suffering and tragedy caused by the Nazis and Hitler. A great story!
