 December 1944. US and British troops are racing toward the German border, taking the battle into the heart of Hitler’s Reich. The Allied commanders are supremely confident, the enemy has little left with which to fight. Most of their troops and armor are deployed on the Eastern Front, leaving those facing Eisenhower’s armies with no choice but to flee.

Yet against all odds, they refuse to flee. And against all odds, incredibly, they launch a counteroffensive, aimed like a spear at the vital Channel port of Antwerp. Not everyone is surprised. Newly promoted Lieutenant Jack Murphy has seen the signs that suggest an impending attack. Signs he brings to the notice of his divisional commander, General Earl Shriver, who chooses to ignore them. The Germans are so short of fuel, they must resort to seizing Allied supply dumps to keep their tanks moving. The first target will be a lightly defended fuel dump outside the village of Bourcy, close to Bastogne.

The divisional commander scoffs at the news. Without hard evidence, he calls it bullshit. Leaving them with no choice but to head for the fuel dump to gather hard evidence. They race back through the forest, unaware a company of enemy tanks is heading in the same direction. Making a pitched and bloody battle inevitable between the foes. One side is determined to seize the vital gasoline. The other is determined to stop them.
