About this listen

Dreams. I used to have them before the nightmares started. I dreamed of nice guys, love...normalcy. Things like reading the Sunday paper in bed with my lover.

But who needs dreams when your reality is filled with a string of faceless, dominating men in uniform? Men who pack thick bulges and are only too happy to satisfy your sexual cravings. Me, that's who.

Then he walked through the door and shared with me, a total stranger, his intimate dream of love. Damn him for verbalizing every single detail of the dream I buried long ago. And now I don't know how I'm going to live without that dream - or him.

The story flowed nicely and the narration was done well. Sad times and some good times.

I've listened to this on you tube before then with in an hour or a little sooner it began to display a lot of audio problems loud buzzing cuts in the story thought it was just YouTube but it's here too. at first wasn't that often but as it went on the problems increased.

You'll love this

This book is three or four stories combined, and while I really enjoyed a couple of them, I come away from the whole feeling like poor Henry has been yanked around and tortured entirely too much for the sake of adding drama and emotion to the book. I’m all about an angsty story. Some of my favorite books have made me bawl and took time to recover from. This one left me feeling my emotions had been toyed with and manipulated. It didn’t feel organic and inevitable that the story would go the ways it did. It was just too much for me.

Also, it has some very triggering scenes and events. I’m of the grit your teeth and get through, or if you don’t like it put it down and walk away generation. I went in blind and was caught by surprise. I don’t hold that against the author or the book. But FYI to sensitive or vulnerable individuals, do your research before diving into this one. Be aware. Protect your mental health.

Any additional comments?

Wow! This story truly took me by surprise because I was not expecting that shocking act of violence, it seemed to have come from out of nowhere. I wasn't prepared for it at all. But the strength, love, and compassion of true friendship was so strong my heart couldn't help but smile.

Henry is such a beautiful character inside and out.

SPOILER ALERT... SPOILER ALERT... SPOILER ALERT...
Now, I'm so sorry to SPOIL this for anyone but the Henry's and Quinn's love story was breathtaking.

It was such a huge disappointed that the author chose to end the story the way she did. She deals you this heart wrenching blow in one chapter... and then 3 seconds later you're 20 years in the future but your heart is still trapped in the last chapter. To not share what Henry has to go through, through out those 20 years was truly sad and I honestly could not be happy or appreciate when it was time to move on because:

1. You don't have enough time to move on.

2. You aren't given enough time to develop a connection.

3. There truly wasn't anything special about the last relationship. Although I got what the author was trying to say, it was done in a way that left me feeling empty and what had started to become a beautiful love story was shattered and you're left with a 'so so' ending.

"We'll run through this." ....SPOILERS ALERT...

The first 1/3 was a little dark but helped establish a care and sympathy for the main character and brought some great surrounding characters. The second part gave us a great love story cut short by death. Then with no real bridge into the last chapters we forget the great love story except for one sentence, and intro a wimpy character to become a final love story that makes no real sense in how it develops given the history of the main character. The storylines are all over the place without bridges of time or development.
The narration was not a favorite either - too formal a voice for the characters presented.

Not a terribly satisfying ending

I liked the overall story. The ending felt rushed. It feels like I’m missing several chapters to this story.

This book gave me all of the feels! I was not expecting that! Although I knew were at certain point in this book was leading, it still broke my heart and yes I ugly cried. I made it predictably unpredictable! I will definitely read this author again!

My overall rating was a4.
This book had so much depth that I must say I was disappointed with the flat ending. So many intense feelings and experiences in this book. I appreciate the HEA and it was much deserved and needed.... However, I
was looking for as much passion or emotion I’m the last relationship as the first two.

Intense

the performance is okay, there just isn't much to the story. not my cup of tea. I guess it is okay for some mindless reading, like a guilty pleasure, but there's just not a lot of substance.

kind of dumb
