About this listen
The adventures with Donnie Vaughn and Olivia Mendoza continue into the next land, a world made of machines. When Donnie accidentally ends up in the world known as Metalia, he meets the young leader of the world, Lady Selene Sakai. She's a child yet brilliant and well-respected. Selene asks Donnie for help in trying to save her world and warns him not to go to the woods because of the monsters lurking there. When he finds out the truth about them, it changes everything that he has known.
Meanwhile, Olivia is trying to get used to her new role as a leader while trying to find Donnie. Before she can leave the Paperland, they are attacked by some strange creatures known as ice wasps. Unbeknownst to her, Donnie is also having problems with ice wasps and other issues in Metalia. Will this new challenge bring them closer together...or pull them further apart?

Jonathan Johns did a very good job narrating
This is the first in the Patterns and Parallels Saga I've read, but I like the concept of the series. There are multiple worlds that you can travel between and communicate between. Like I said, this is the first I've read, so I'm not sure if the other books have as much explaining in them as this one. It seems like we find out a lot about how the traveling works, how communications work, and the different worlds. I wasn't that interested in the relationship between Donnie and Olivia, but I think most of that could be attributed to the length of the book.
Jonathan Johns did a very good job narrating. I liked the speed, but I have a feeling some audio listeners will find it too fast.

The Patterns & Parallels Saga - Book 3
I have not read book 1 & 2 from this series but have found that book 3 did not captivate me that much. Perhaps, it would have been better if I had read the previous books.
IMO the book was not as interesting as I thought it would be. Most of this book is written in Donnie's POV. There is a bit of Olivia's POV as well.
Donnie & Olivia are in different places throughout the book. They are both dealing with major issues where they are and when you think they might have a chance of reuniting something horrible happens. It ends in a major CLIFFHANGER!
The narrator was a bit monotonous for my taste.

Good...but read in order
Any additional comments?
Creative and interesting story.
While I like the concept and I did like this story, it was a bit confusing in the beginning .I think the series needs to be read in order to be fully enjoyed. This is the 3rd book in the series. Many times you can pick up a book in a series and it has no effect on the story, that is not the case here.
Parallel worlds that can communicate with and travel to each other. There are explanations given reguarding the travel and communication between the worlds. Metalworld sounds somewhat like a Victorian Steampunk.
The story itself is interesting and told in dual POV's. Donnie is in Metalword and Olivia is in Paperworld. Both are trying to find a way back to each other.
Johnathan Johns did a good job with the narration. Nice pleasant voice ,easy on the ears. Nice even pace.
