About this listen

An arranged marriage was never what Callum Darrington, future Duke of Edinbane, imagined for himself. But with the wellbeing of his uncle’s family hanging in the balance, Callum strikes a bargain with his father and reluctantly agrees to tie himself to a stranger. The reality of the lovely Lady Katherine is more than he could have hoped for, and their wedding heralds a bright new future for the couple — until Callum discovers his father deliberately deceived him. Callum lashes out, setting in motion heartbreak not even he could have foreseen.

Four years later, Callum is ready to piece together the marriage he so carelessly destroyed. But their years apart have hardened Kate: She is not the naive and trusting young woman she once was, and she has no intention of allowing Callum a foothold in her life or her heart. Despite her coldness, Callum works to regain her trust and rebuild their marriage, not realizing Kate harbors a secret that could change everything — and this time, there is much more at stake than just her heart.

A really story. I hope there’s more books to come. I enjoyed the books about the Highland life.

Great book

I loved the main characters. Katie especially was very brave and real about her feelings and boundaries. I’m glad she was written to being a strong woman figure, but also able to grow and learn throughout the story. Both main characters grew and changed into better people, in different ways, but closer together, wanting to make things work.

A very sweet story of forgiveness

This book was a great pleasure! At one heart wrenching and heart warming, this is a story rich with the rolling emotions and complexities of learning to love and trust another with your heart! Just lovely!

So so Good!

Full of tenderness and turmoil of feelings, very clean despite the strong love and longing. The Author spared us the "biology session". I very much admired that we did not have to listen to details of the "action" of the wedding night.
There is a sweet lullaby in Chapter 33 (I think) I should rewined and write it down.

Splendidly heartwarming....

Story OKAY it did seem to get a little long. But I love the accents. The characters were OK.. I was looking for something else written by this author.

I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was read at a time when I was supposed to rest because of illness and it could not have been more entertaining. so well written I could close my eyes and picture every scene and every expression and.feeling. my 4 sisters and I have started a reading club and my sister suggested this as our second book to read. It was a great choice and I can't wait to talk about it on our next zoom meeting. congratulations to the author. I will be looking for more of your books.to read.

wonderful book

I liked the story and felt it was written pretty well for the most part. However, the author really fumbled the dialogue written for the children. I understand it can be difficult to convey language spoken by a 3 year old, but I have never encountered a single child who so frequently uses improper grammar and incorrect tense forms (ex. “forgetted” instead of “forgot” in their native language. The child uses significantly more complex sentences and expresses more complex thoughts than a normal 3 year old, so it feels as if the writer was trying to “dumb down” the words to make it feel more childlike, but it was unsuccessful and difficult to read/hear. It felt like the author tried to force too much of the storyline, exposition of details, and character development into the child’s dialogue, when it could have been done in a more indirect and natural manner. I will still look for other titles by this author, but I would encourage the author to be cautious when writing dialogue for children in the future.

Lovely story with one flaw in the writing that may turn some off
